This summer is a huge chance for us to re-shape our squad for the next few years.
Le Fondre & Adeyemi's contracts are finally up. Add to that the likely exits of Manga and Lambert and the return to Bolton of the expensive and largely unused Amos; it could see us save in the region of 80k a week on the wage bill.
The question then is how many more INs and OUTs do we need? Below will be our possible squad at the start of the next season.
GK: Brian Murphy, Ben Wilson
Murphy when asked has done a solid job but we would need an experienced "Number 1".
FB: Peltier, Richards, John, Joe Bennett
None of our full backs are world beaters but it's not a huge area of concern. We seem solid at right back - but we could definitely do with a more defensive minded Left Back joining.
CB: Bamba, Morrison, Connolly, Halford, Ajayi
Again not a huge area of concern, but injuries could mean a lack of quality cover. I'd be inclined to stick with what we have for the sake of consistency.
CM: Whittingham, Ralls, Gunnersson, O'Keefe, Huws
With Whittingham seeming not playing an integral part of future plans, it means that we seem to lack any quality creativity, vision and flair from midfield. We've not seen enough of Huws and don't think we will as he would be a likely candidate for loan/ transfer. Therefore, I think we need a creative central midfielder.
WNG: Noone, Hoilet, Harris, Kennedy, Pilkington
In a team pushing for promotion; Hoilet and Pilkington would be the only names on the team sheet. Harris is no longer an inexperienced kid and has plateaued as a hardworking but one-dimensional winger, and Noones best days seem to be behind him. Therefore, we need at least one quality wide man with pace.
FW: Gounongbe, Zahore, Healey
This is our biggest problem. Gounongbe clearly isn't in NWs plans, Healey is likely to be loaned out again as he would be at the moment was there not the "no more than 3 clubs" rule in place. And assuming that we off-load Lambert that leaves Zahore as the ONLY out and out striker at the club. We desperately need at least 2 quality first team strikers.
SUMMARY
1st choice keeper (....Hennesey, Ruddy, Ward, Marshall?!?!....)
Left sided Full Back (....Zeki Fryers, Dean Moxey, Gaetan Bong....)
Creative Central midfielder (...Drew Surman, Jordon Mutch, Johnny Williams, Alan Judge....)
Pacy winger (...Marvin Emnes, Michael Kightley, Niall McGinn, Jonny Hayes....)
Two quality strikers (....Matty Taylor, Frazier Campbell, Jason Cummings, Tom Lawrence....)
It certainly looks set to be an interesting summer!

Why oh why do we still see the Mutch & Campbells being touted about CCFC ffs

Because Campbell is out of contract in the summer - is a viable target - and twice as good as any strikers we have on our books.
Thanks for your insightful input.

Shopping list may well be quite long with Murphy, Whittingham, Hoilett, Harris and Healey out of contract this summer.
Big summer coming up for the club. AGAIN.

I'll get slated for saying this but I'd release Whittingham to free up wages for a player who CAN run and play like Warnock wants his players to do. He must be on at least 20k a week.

It's a tricky one really as he's looking to sign probably the last contract of his career. If we could half his wages and instead give him a big appearance fee then I'd renew in an instant.
However, as you said, free up his wages if they stay the same might make the best business sense.
Nobody would dispute that he is a true City legend and one of the best Championship midfielders of all time - but it he still worth 25-30k a week???

Once the Summer comes, you can add about two or three hundred players who will supposedly be linked with us to your list.

Don't forget we're not shopping in Harrods any more.
It's Lidl's all the way!

Absolutely, but my list is just an example of the type of player that would fill a void in our squad. I'd be surprised (but pleased) if we signed anyone that I've listed.
I would say that my pick would be Jason Cummings from Hibs. Still only 21 with an amazing goal scoring record. My Scottish connections tell me he's a wee bit mental though! Also, Hibs turned down £1.5M for him recently so we'd need a £2m bit at least.

no offence but the list of players you offered we could get are either not good enough or we have no chance of signing.

That's why I love being a City fan; positive insightful views like this.

Out of contract - any reason for that? Don't forget this is the guy that turned away from us to chase the glory and AT THE TIME was worthy of that level. A lot has happened since and personally I wouldn't waste the £

Why because I'm being honest, I mean If you want pure positivity then why not say striker, Suarez, just or sign Ben Amos. Ones unrealistic the others not good enough, it's not about being positive it's about being honest.

Hey everyone is entitled to an opinion but maybe throw in a few alternative names if you're want to contribute positively to a thread.
I also noticed we were in the mix to sign Matty Taylor yesterday (on my list). A move that most City fans seemed keen on.
Other players I mentioned were:
Michael Kightly who went to Burton yesterday
Jordan Mutch moved to Reading
Marvin Emnes moved to Blackburn

Going to have to be a small shopping list. Not easy to buy players and pay their wages while still trying to reduce massive debts.
