Cardiff City defender Semi Ajayi is set to join Championship rivals Rotherham United on loan, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Monday 30th Jan 2017
Ajayi joined Cardiff from Arsenal in the summer of 2015 after initially impressing during a loan spell at the Welsh club.
The 23-year-old has yet to feature for Cardiff this season and Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock is happy to loan him out so that he can get regular first-team football under his belt.
The centre-back has enjoyed two loan spells away at AFC Wimbledon and Crewe Alexandra since joining Cardiff, with Ajayi unable to break into the first-team at the Cardiff City Stadium thus far.
Ajayi came up through the youth ranks at Charlton Athletic before joining Arsenal in 2013.

Great move for Semi, lets hope he figures in most of their games and gains experience, he looks a prospect for the future

At 23, if he was good enough he'd should surely be breaking in to our first team by now. I hope I'm proven wrong, but i don't think he has a future with us.

A decent player - great move by the club.
He is another who (like healey etc)has to wait too long for a proper try out due to the pressure of the managers in the championship

Funny story I agree with you

but we ourselves also keep signing 20,21,22 and 23 year olds on trial or saying they are for the future

Ajayi leaves on loan to Rotherham
Semi Ajayi:
"I heard about the interest on Saturday evening and then I got a call from the gaffer here on Sunday afternoon,β said Ajayi.
βHe told me what the club was about, he said that there is a really good set of lads here and I would enjoy it. I jumped at the chance to sign and get some games, and hopefully help the club move forward.β

He looks decent for dvp and good ball playing defender. Hopefully he will shine I would like to see him have a few games here.

I think Defenders can take a bit longer to develop so he could still be decent. Loaning him out to a team almost doomed to relegation will ensure every game is uncomfortable for him and he's under constant pressure. This is to help him (or at least see if he can..) build some grit and guile.

Or it will destroy his confidence

Yep another one got nowhere with us. Been questioning what our success rate is with this sort of signing. It's not been that high over the last few seasons.

I honestly thought hed get at least a chance with us, Rotherham a perfect move for him though, playing week in week out probably and against good teams
