Cardiff improve bid for Jonny Hayes - reports

Monday 30th January 2017

The Daily Express are reporting that Cardiff City have gone in with an improved bid for Jonny Hayes.

The window shuts tomorrow night Tuesday at 11pm, they’ve upped their offer to the tune of £100,000 and submitted a £600,000 bid.

Will that extra bit of money be enough?

we must really be short of money or we dont reallythink hayes will make a massive difference, for 750-1m hes ours and we are haggling over a 150k,when we got a billionaire owner that is just madness

I'd heard that too.I suppose it depends on how much we've turned Jonny's head.I'd have thought 750k and they would have found it very hard to keep hold of him.I think the player know's if he doesn't go now he won't get another chance.

Personally I don't think we need him .. I would rather wait out the season and bring players in the summer.
I don't see the problem in playing kennedy.
It's quite clear noone isn't stepping up and blows hot and cold.

I agree unless warnock thinks he's in our long term plan for next season

Good to see us not throwing money away and meeting other clubs valuations.

Having listened to Warnock I would assume this is a deal that he would like at our own valuation otherwise it can wait until the Summer.

Madness? A bit of common sense for once. £600k take it or leave it otherwise we are back to the days of throwing money down the drain.

I saw him playing for aberdeen last week, never stopped running he was all over the pitch, bringing players into play and some cracking crosses and passes, would make a hell of a difference to our team, i really hope he comes here

I saw that too.Got more go in him than most of our lot. Like I said before a big part of him coming will be if we've managed to turn his head wage wise.

I seen them over the weekend also he got an assist and seemed to be all over the place if ppl here think 750k is throwing money down the drain then im very surprised, under ole we would have offered 2m for him now we are haggling over 150k,hopefully ajayi going out on loan gives us a bit more to play with in terms of budget

ABERDEEN RECEIVE THIRD CARDIFF CITY BID FOR MAESTRO JONNY HAYES

Evening Express

30/01/17

Aberdeen were today fighting to retain Jonny Hayes after Cardiff City tabled a third bid for the star winger.

The offer from the Championship club is understood to be for £600,000 in the move to land Hayes before the transfer window closes tomorrow.

Aberdeen have already rejected two bids of £500,000, each structured differently, for the Republic of Ireland international.

Hayes has 18 months left on his Dons contract and boss Derek McInnes is desperate to keep the 29-year-old at Pittodrie.

McInnes warned Cardiff they would not land Hayes on the cheap and insisted they had to “get serious” with any offer for the winger when knocking back the second bid of £500,000 earlier this month.

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock had a bid for Blackburn Rovers winger Liam Feeney, 30, rejected at the weekend and has refocused his attention on trying to secure Hayes before the window closes.

Boss McInnes aims to retain Hayes while also adding to his squad in the window with Preston North End striker Stevie May a target for a loan deal until the end of the season.

Both clubs have held talks and if May is sent on loan it is understood his preference would be to link up with former boss McInnes again.

McInnes handed May his debut as a 16-year-old while manager at St Johnstone.

Winger Hayes pitched in with an assist for Niall McGinn’s second goal in the 3-0 win over Dundee on Friday.

He was substituted late in the game to a standing ovation from the Red Army.

Boss McInnes hopes that will not be Hayes’ Dons swansong. The salary available in the Championship far exceeds what the Reds can offer.

Aberdeen today refused to comment on the fresh bid from the Bluebirds.

if we had got something for Lex (and others ) there would be a better bid.

I think Warnock has made good signings
I'm not sure about Halford yet but hasn't impressed me

So hopefully if hayes is signed I hope to see kennedy get some game time

like mcinnies said at our black and gold meeting last week , there is so many ways you can dress up a shite offer. and that goes with the third one put in . johnny is not throwing the toys out the pram, he loves playing for the club and family love the city and shire. yes money talks but he is on more wages that has been stated on here . so unless use put in a substantial bid today then it aint going to happen. you might not value him at that price but that's irrelevant as we don't need to sell. as we don't have an unhappy player and we are debt free. so interesting day ahead. it might go your way but there would be carnage if he went cheaply .. do use think tan will bridge the huge gap with regards the bid?

We won't find out until the (not confirmed) third bid has been rejected. Have we heard from Aberdeen officially yet?
