WARNOCK: "I ONLY WANT TO MANAGE A CLUB CAPABLE OF PROMOTION"

Neil Warnock makes even stronger hints after the Reading away defeat on Saturday. Warnock's contract runs out this summer and he has stated on numerous occasions,"back me and I will stay next season."

The Bluebirds have collected an average 1.47 points per game under Warnock - more than double the tally achieved by Trollope (0.73) in his ill-fated 11-game reign, with no more money spent on transfers.

Warnock's contract with the Bluebirds expires in the summer, and he admits he only wants to manage a club that are capable of being promoted into the Premier League next season

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock admits he only wants to manage a club that are capable of challenging for promotion into the Premier League next season.

The Yorkshireman has steered the Bluebirds away from the Championship's relegation zone since replacing Paul Trollope in the Cardiff City Stadium hotseat in October.

He has made no secret of his desire to fire the Bluebirds into the Premier League next season - but will see his contract with the club expire at the end of the current campaign.

And Warnock said he is determined to repay the faith shown in him by Cardiff's hierarchy but admits he only wants to manage a club that a capable of securing promotion next season.

"I'd like to get promotion next year whoever I'm with," said Warnock.

"I'm working hard to show them (owners) what I can do. Everything's very positive and I've told them in detail what I think we need. I'm sure they're going to come back and let me know if it's possible.

"It's a great club and I think we're showing them that we know what we're doing but we just need that little bit more.

"I've got a lot of time for the people above me. Mehmet's (Dalman) been fantastic with me, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for him.

"I don't want to pick money up without a chance of promotion. I might aswell go somewhere else hadn't I. They know that but it's not like that and we get on really well."

The Bluebirds have collected an average 1.47 points per game under Warnock - more than double the tally achieved by Trollope (0.73) in his ill-fated 11-game reign.

During Warnock's time in charge of the club, the Bluebirds would have been in 11th place in the Championship table only three points off a top six place.

And the boss, who has won promotion seven times during his managerial career, admits a few additions in the summer transfer window could dramatically improve what he thinks is already a good Cardiff side.

"I know what I want, what style I want and I want to excite people," added Warnock.

"I don't think we're far away from being a very good side."

Like I've said all along, the man's bullet proof. He says what he likes. And make no mistake,he would not short of offers should he decide to leave. Most clubs would not be bothered about his age and I'll bet if he left tommorow he be managing someone else by the weekend if he so choose.I can think of a load of currently unemployed managers that would like to be in his position.

City are certainly a club "capable" of promotion, as has been proved in the recent past. The big issue at this current moment is whether there is any real desire,,,or commitment to do so again,,,in the near future.

That is the big question...has Tan got the desire to have another go.

The whole club has been given a lift under Warnock...the attendances have improved..the stadium atmosphere is better...the away support is starting to pick up again...and the team is competitive in every game.

Add to that the development set up revamp and getting Bellamy on board...and the club is in a much better place than it was 3 months ago.

If he is given £10 million in the summer you know we will be there or thereabouts....but like I said earlier has Tan got the desire to do it. I don't think he will ever be forgiven for the rebranding...but Tan has got a big opportunity to get the fans onside again , but will he take it???

City in the prem would certainly make a more attractive investment proposition.

Exactly. We all heard him the first time. What is the point repeating it every time he gets a chance? We all know he wants a last dance, and I guess the powers at will know to. Credit to the man for installing fight in the team. But he has a long way to go yet. Wish he would speak more about long term football philosophies for the club than his own personal goals, or even demands.

Imagine where we might be (consolidated well inside Top 6) if he'd been here from the start! :ayatollah:

Trouble is, we are where we are and this season is now about survival, preparation and positioning (on all sides) for nest season. The signs are more positive than negative though and it seems Neil Warnock is simply reminding those at the top that they have an obligation to him, if they are to be true to their word as he is to his own! ;)

Not at all. I mainly come here for information, and match updates..
But it is a Pandora's box isn't it? If he leaves, I think it will hurt the club. Especially the way he has put himself first.
Personally I would prefer a Bellamy type, up and coming, another brand of football, and a long term plan.
Another thing he is doing, is jacking up prices. He is showing the inflated marked his cards, before they are played. Should of kept this in house IMO.

For me if Neil Warnock leaves this Summer that will 100% prove Tan has No interest in our club,no intentions of going forward and is just continuing clearing the decks leaving us with virtualy, a club with a very weak squad and no back up from the DVP.

On the other hand if Neil Warnock stays, Tan will have proven me totally wrong and that will make me happy :thumbright: :thumbright: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I think he will give him a slight backing ( Hayes ) and will back him in the summer sensibly. That's my opinion, as for long term then yes but bringing Bellamy in and clearing the high paid dead wood is for me already looking to the future.

Personally I would have thought more of Warnock if he kept quiet and gone about his business in a professional way. This sort of stuff should be kept behind closed doors and not for public airing. To me this is creating a further divide which is unecessary.

Yes we have shown improvement under Warnock and it looks like he will steer us clear from relegation but the job is not yet done and he has already told us that the five games we play next could end us back in the relegation fight.

Tan does have a dilemma because he does have a a manager the fans want but many can't see that age is against him. A lot of amo is chucked at Tan saying we have have had to many managers in such a short space of time with no clear structure in place on what style of football we want to play. This is why we have a mish mash of a squad.

Tan if he is still putting in a million a month is probably thinking why should I put in more when I am already clearing a substantial debt and trying to make the club debt free. Maybe he is listening to fans in another way and saying I don't want to gamble with another short term manager and then if he fails or walks out cause he Int happy we have to go through the whole process again and potential FFP restrictions.

Would we all be disappointed if Warnock left and a younger manager came in with a proven track record and was backed ?

Just think we are hearing one side only and jumping to conclusions - in this instance I would rather have heard none

Wish he would speak more about long term football philosophies for the club than his own personal goals, or even demands.

Sorry, I thought you were having ago at us for putting it out so much, We are just putting out what is said from him or our club :thumbright: :thumbright:

But I do love the way he never gives in and lets everyone know what he wants :thumbright: :thumbright:
