For those who say Neil Warnocks Cardiff City team do not create chances and don't think its a striker problem, even though Neil Warnock has stated on record that his priority if he had money is a striker.

Cardiff played third from top of the Championship Reading away yesterday who have a great home record, for me we gave a solid, brave performance.

The stats from yesterday showed Cardiff did create chances as they had 18 goal attempts, but only 4 on target.

For me Kenneth Zohore can give his all,be a work house, but he has had a good run of games and if we started with Johore next season and did not improve the team and bring in a striker we would probably eventually be relegated.

Kenneth Zohore is not a proven striker.

Rickie Lambert is injury prone, slow and past his sell by date.

Rhys Healey is still young just made his debut and will need time to see how he is.

The good news is,Cardiff created 18 goal attempts to Readings 11,which shows we are creating :thumbright: :thumbright:

This is going to be a debatable subject as the rebrand without the sellouts. I pray it does not go on as long as the red did.

The rebrand could have been easily resolved early. This one is not so easily fixed. Even throwing money at it is no gaurantee. Burnley managed to return to the premier first time with £10m Andre Gray, Middlesborough with Jordan Rhodes and Nugent but lets look at Fulham and the money they spent on Ross MacCormack as the no guarantee ticket.

Besides getting the proven goal scorer we need to go into the premier with players we have now who are ready for the step up. We had to buy last time and that is always a gamble. At the moment I only see one player we have who could make it there and that is Gunnerson. Some of them like Bamba and Holiet still have a way to go to show that they have it. Perhaps a season or two settled with us in the Championship will prove that.

First priority definitely a striker though.

Go get Omar Bogle from Grimsby. Good young player with a high sell on value. Can always play wide if it doesn't work out as very tricky player. Dont think he would cost the earth either. Far better option than an aging player in Scotland.
Surely we can outbid Rotherham

Perhaps the best we can go for under this regime. We can offer a higher standard of football and triple their wages. So yes appealling to those types even under the cloud of working for Tan. Tbh I just can't see a proven goalscorer wanting to come to us even for all the money under the sun.

Agree with the OP, spot on. We were in the bottom three not long ago, now some of our unrealistic fans aren't happy we can't beat or take points of a side top and third. Laughable. Work in progress.

I understand what you are saying in the op, but it doesn't tell the full story. Yes, we may have had 18 shots but who took those shots? I can guarantee you that not many of those 18 came from Healey or Zohore. Not many balls came to either of those players in shooting positions. Hoilett skyed a few as did Ralls. A lot were probably headers from Morrison on the set plays.

I truly have faith in Zohore, Healey and Lambert to produce the goods needed for this season, but they can't do anything without good service from the wings and midfield.

Let's face it, this club hasnt had a top quality 20 goal a season striker since Chopra.

Stick with him imo.

The scenario I do not want to see is him leave and Bellers given the job and given a 20m war chest as it would be wasted.

NW has inherited a few first teamers who are clearly not good enough that goes to show in the lack of interest from other clubs and a few of them are probably on stupid wages to boot.

If he can get just one in before Tuesday he will be happy to wait until the summer.

MM got us promoted by playing what I would say was totally unattractive Football if given the players NW will be far better than that.

I think that's a pretty fair assessment of things
As they are right now . We need to prioritise on getting a
proven goal scorer to maximise the chances created .
Incidentally , l thought the support was great again yesterday , especially when you consider our league position .

I am hoping that Warnock is experimenting after a few good results.

IMO- He knows what Whitts can do and can't do, has seen Nooney & pilkington close up and has taken it in. The problem is if we take a loss on any transfer or signing on fee's we still have the issue of salary's. Most of the Ole generation (and Lambert) had tasty salaries, we really do need to make it uncomfortable for those players to encourage them to move on. If we get to Tuesday at 11pm with Lambert, Nooney and O'Keefe I can see them getting regular game time.

Playing Kennedy and Harris is putting them in the shop window, if we get another wide man what happens to those ?

Really surprised a club hasn't come in for Gunnarsson

Good post. I think we are doing far better than we were before Warnock arrived and I've got faith in him. He no doubt realised from the start we were likely going to get relegated unless changes were made quickly. He gave just about everyone a chance to show their worth and, with a couple of useful additions ...Bamba and Hoilett he now looks to have settled on a team he thinks can compete at this level. I'm not so sure he needs to change it now except maybe a tweak here and there, to accommodate Pilkington when he's fit for example.

How anyone can criticize two creditible results away from home against two high-flying sides in the division is beyond me. Warnock knows that there is a sparcity of quality in the squad and a proven striker deficit. It's not the likes of Brighton and Reading he's concentrating on, it's more like Bristol City and Burton and we've beaten both.

Sadly it might not be champagne football but that's what several seasons mismanagement has left us with. Warnock must have known he had a challenge on his hands right from the start.

We were not bad against Brighton either! Whilst forwards may be struggling we probably failed to score in only about 6 games?? Not bad considering don't have out and out goal scorer. :old:
