Cardiff manager Neil Warnock is hoping to extend his contract into next season with the Sky Bet Championship club.

Warnock's short-term deal runs out this summer but, after the 2-1 defeat at Reading, he revealed that he hoped to stay on in south Wales.

"I'd like to get promotion next season," Warnock, who succeeded Paul Trollope in October, said. "I'm working hard to show the club what I can do.

"I've met the owner [Vincent Tan] and everybody else. Everything is very positive. I've told them in detail what I think we need, I gave them an in-depth look into my thoughts this week

Give him his contract to sign now, otherwise Tan will appoint another idiot!

If he isnt our manager next season its because tan dosent want to spend anything again and has no ambition for the 2017-18 season

I would go further an say no ambition ever.

Although I think now we've learn our lessons, steadied the ship, Tan will give Warnock the support and backing resulting in next season being one to remember.

If indeed that happens then I think you'll see less fans than this season as the club would have sent a clear message to everyone that the club has no intention going for promotion.

Clever move by Warnock, it puts the ball firmly in Tans court.

Forcing Tan's hand have never been a smart move! He should of kept this "in house"..

Id def keep him for next season but hoping Craig Bellamy gets a more hands on role with the 1st team as a ready made replacement. Personally wouldn't fancy Blackwell as his replacement which i think we might go with

Ball definitely being put back in Tans court and yes it is always best to keep this in house but it does make it interesting read when its out in the open.

Of course it's a smart move by Warnock!
If he gets backing then he gets what he wants and if he doesn't get the backing he also gets what he wants as he doesn't want to stay without a promotion push.
Clever move by our manager and a win - win situation.
