That is obscene considering areas of extreme poverty in china. What makes it worse is that the UK government sends aid to China to help develop football in the Country.
The UK government needs to look very closely at its foreign aid policy!

Look at the poverty in the UK - yet the UK still spends £36 billion of our money on the military each year. The Chinese money is not tax money but private investment, so wouldn't be spent on the people of China anyway. Any area which generates its own money is entitled to spend it any way they choose no matter how obscene it seems when compared to normal life.

I don't understand why anyone ever needs to get paid £600k a week - how's it any different to getting £150k a week or even £20k a week, it's still more money than you'd ever spend or ever need.
FIFA should look at some kind of cap on wages.

What can he buy with 600k a week that he cant with 150k? Even with 150k a week he could support generations of his family.
Crazy money.

I agree, coming to the end of the best of his career and a chance to live and work in a different culture whilst getting paid massive amounts of money, could go for a year then come home and finish his career with Everton.
Hate everything about it but would not blame him for milking it.

He's now set the record at Man Utd he's achieved everything there is in the game except internationally so I wouldn't surprise if he accept the offer.

I live in Shanghai and a season ticket holder with shanghai shenhua and they have a lot of backing from the greenland group.
The Chinese government has now placed the 4 only foreigners per team, at the moment with Carlos Tevez and Demba Ba, there is room for 1 more. There has been strong talk out here over the last 7 days or so, that 4th foreigner will be Wayne Rooney.
The season starts in March and cannot wait to see the new team line up, but for now, my flight leaves for London tomorrow evening at 7pm in readiness for Preston and Norwich and then fly back to shanghai for work on Monday morning.
