Bluebirds surprise return for Tom Lawrence

Bit of a surprise this one.

Cardiff City have been linked with bringing Welsh international Tom Lawrence back to the capital.

Contrary to what he showed during his loan spell at Cardiff last season, the 23-year-old is bang in form, netting five goals in his last five games.

Lawrence would be a great signing but Elliott?? :?

We already have a class keeper n Alan McGregor and Murphy is more than good enough back up, if the No.1 slot is pretty much sealed :ayatollah:

Most on here said Lawrence was shit. But it was obvious he has bags of talent, I'd take him back in a heart beat.

Agree with you both - Surprised at another keeper - but would welcome Lawrence back if we are in a position to buy :bluebird:

Thought we should have signed Lawrence after his loan deal.

If we do sign him he should do very well in this team he was our only threat last season and was completely isolated.

Bit of a nothing story. Seems they have named half of the teams in the championship in that list!

Burnley, Cardiff City, Derby County, Newcastle United, Norwich City and Sunderland are reportedly battling for Tom Lawrence's signature.

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United and Sunderland are among the clubs interested in signing Leicester winger Tom Lawrence, who has starred on loan at Ipswich.

Lawrence, 23, came up through the ranks at Manchester United having joined from Everton at the age of just eight, and he made just one first-team appearance for the club.

The Welshman enjoyed loan spells with Carlisle United and Yeovil Town before joining Leicester City on a permanent basis in the summer of 2014 – yet he's only made four appearances for the Foxes.

Lawrence has spent most of his time out on loan, having been farmed out to Rotherham United, Blackburn Rovers and Cardiff City before joining up with Ipswich Town this season.

The winger has been exceptional this season, notching seven goals and four assists in just 25 games – and his performances are attracting major interest as the transfer window draws towards its close.

The Daily Mail report that six clubs have all made enquiries about signing four-cap Welsh international Lawrence; Burnley, Cardiff City, Derby County, Newcastle United, Norwich City and Sunderland.
It's stated that Leicester would be open to selling Lawrence for around £1million, meaning his loan spell with Ipswich could be cut short in order for him to make a permanent move before next week's transfer deadline.

Lawrence was emerging at Manchester United when Sunderland boss David Moyes was in charge at Old Trafford, meaning the winger may fancy a move to the Stadium of Light, but Newcastle – in the market for a new winger – could offer him the chance to play a part in the club's push for promotion this season, with the two North East clubs potentially favourites to land Lawrence this month.

Jack, you're not wrong there. Last season wasn't overly good for any Cardiff City player but I think a manager with decent coaches, i.e. Warnock, Blackwell and Jepson, would bring out the best of him  :ayatollah:

I thought he was good for us, he was just missing the odd goal, which tbf he deserved one at Bristol away where he cut inside and it deflected onto the bar and landed on a plate for stuart o'keefe.

It looks like he's added goals to his game this season which was all he was missing. I agree with you that with Warnock he could carry on his form and he will get the best out of him.

It sounded like he was all over us at Ipswich away and whenever I've seen him play this season he's scored a screamer or two, would seriously be happy if we could get him back here as I think he still has a lot to offer and will be a good player in the future.

Lawrence would be a great signing however agree with
most posters we don't need another keeper yet.

If we need a keeper in the summer the boy Daniels at
Scunthorpe would be a good bet together with McGregor if he leaves Hull.

We do not need anymore keepers............we need goal scorers - why is Saadi still on loan?

For the long term Rob Elliott would be a fantastic addition to the squad, absolutely cracking keeper.

Can't see Tom coming here with Premiership football(all but assured) with Newcastle.

i hope we go for lawrence he seems to be finding his feet now in the championship

I can't see him coming if the bigger sides in the champ come knocking especially at £1m.

I'd take Elliot to but only on a full deal, Amos cancel it he's not our problem if Bolton can't loan him.
Murphy is ok but is he a long term option?

Where is this story from? I doubt any of it is anything more than supposition and was probably written 5 days ago.

We already brought in a goalie and Lawrence is only being linked because he was on loan here and is probably being considered as he is doing well now and Leicester obviously don't want him.

But his parent club are already in the Premier League! If they thought he had what it takes he'd be there I'd say. When Newcastle do get back up I doubt very much he'd get near the first team. He's a cracking Championship player I feel.
