Wolves ?
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul Lambert is reportedly considering a move for Cardiff City's out-of-favour striker Rickie Lambert this month.
The 34-year-old - formerly of Liverpool, Southampton and West Bromwich Albion - has found his game time in Wales limited this season and has not started in the league since the start of December.
Wolves manager Lambert is in the market for experienced Championship heads in the transfer market this month, having already brought in striker Andreas Weimann on loan from Derby County and submitted a bid for Blackburn Rovers full-back Ben Marshall.
According to the Express & Star, Lambert tracked former England international Lambert during his time in charge of Aston Villa and is now considering a fresh bid to bring him to the Midlands.
Lambert was most prolific during his five seasons with the Saints, scoring 106 goals in 207 games as the club ascended from League One to the Premier League.

If we can offload him to wolves it will be a master stroke. Have seen one decent game from him at villa, but even then the legs struggled like they have done from day one. Such a shame, it is what it is. I questioned his legs and it it rightly got mixed so opinions, so I reserved judgement. People can say play off him etc and that does make sense, but you can't carry a player as much as he needs carrying. Legs gone and be brilliant if we can offload him and save us a small fortune.

I was one who thought he would be brilliant for us but he's been a disappointment for me ,he is class in and around the box but the way we play he's just not quick enough

Reminded me a bit like Bothroyd. He could hold the ball up well and was a good target man for the set pieces. Put him in a team with Burke, Chopra type players thing we would do well.

Let's see if we can persuade them he's worth £3m like we did with Joe Mason.

Bothroyd?

Yeah.
Bothroyds 2 strong points was 1 holding play up for support, 2 winning the arial game. Very much what Lambert does for us.

The comparison stop at the fact they were both 'hold up' type players. As does it with Rudy and Zahore. Many differences in style and physicality.

Bothroyd was a much better player for us imo . He was also very good with the ball at his feet as well

Lambert in his prime was deadly, unfortunately age and injuries has taken it's toll and he's now no longer a threat.
If we manage to offload him that would be fantastic as I don't think that many clubs will look to take a punt on the lad.

he is nothing like bothroyd, bothroyd had a turn of pace for a big man and a touch lambert could only dream of,in fact if lambert dreamed he had a touch like jay he needs to wake up and apologize

Getting a bit of stick for this one Ian, but actually I see what you are trying to say. Burke especially made Bothroyd a better player with all of those assists and if a similar player did the same for Lambert then he would score more.

Rickie Lambert's time at Cardiff City may be coming to an end after reports over the weekend suggested that Neil Warnock may be prepared to listen to offers.
Considering the proximity of Lambert's current club to that of the one where he made his name, chances are that at some point between now and the end of January a return to Bristol Rovers will be touted.
But what is the likelihood of it actually happening and what would be the pros and cons of Lambert making a return to the Memorial Stadium?
