Neil Warnock on meetings with Vincent Tan

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Following the game last weekend, I had a very enjoyable meeting with Tan Sri Vincent Tan, Mehmet Dalman and Ken Choo in London"
"It’s clear to me that we’re all singing from the same hymn sheet which is really encouraging; we’ve got to ensure that we balance the books accordingly throughout this window, bring in the right faces if and where we can and perhaps move on a couple of players who need a fresh challenge."

"I have said to to him though,If you don't want to challenge, obviously you can get somebody else in"

"I want to stay here at Cardiff City next season, but I must be backed"

"I said to Vincent we need three or four quality players, if you want to challenge that is,"

"He never gave me any definitive answers,so we shall see"

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock has hinted he does not want to stay at the club next season unless his summer transfer plans are matched by owner Vincent Tan.

BBC

20/01/17

Warnock is keen for an eighth career promotion and hopes to convince Tan to give him funds in the summer.

The Bluebirds are 18th in the Championship and 20 points off the 50 Warnock says will guarantee survival.

"I said to Vincent we need three or four quality players, if you want to challenge that is," he said.

"If you don't want to challenge, obviously you can get somebody else in and you can go with what you want to go with. It's one of those things."

Warnock met Tan for the first time in his reign following the win at Bristol City.

He said: "I have to show Vincent I am the one he should support to have a go [for promotion].

"That is what my job is between now and the end of the season to try and convince him he will not have a better chance. Then it is up to him and the board to decide."

He added: "It was not about definitive answers it was about having a chat really about the way he felt about the club.

"I would not want to be anywhere and pick my money up if I have not got a chance of promotion, not at my age now.

"About 20 years ago I probably would have loved to have been anywhere for two or three years. But not now.

"I want to have a go next year and Vincent knows that.

"We have had a friendly chat. I am not going to throw money away now in January when I think it would be silly to get people in place now when you might not want to put them in place in the summer."

Scotland goalkeeper Alan McGregor, signed on loan from Hull City, will make his debut as Cardiff take on visitors Burton Albion on Saturday, a club Warnock managed in the early 1980s.

Cardiff are still keen on Aberdeen winger Jonny Hayes while Warnock said former England striker Ricky Lambert would not go out on loan and Rhys Healey, recently returned from a loan at Newport County, would also be staying at Cardiff.

' Promotion aim '

Warnock has revealed that he is targeting promotion next season, and has warned the club that if his ambitions are not matches he won’t wait around.

Could you tell me where I have changed my tune? I've shown that Warnock will stay only if he is backed by Tan and I've maintained that from day one :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

The comedy gold was yourself saying that Warnock in a headline was staying next year and was being backed by Tan, with no words to that from either Tan or Warnock

It makes perfect sense to me that we don't spend big this window. Just a couple in to ensure we stay well clear of bottom 3. Hopefully the club will be able to spend some serious money in the summer for a promotion push next season.Don't forget there will be people available on frees who might cost £1m now. It will be the wages budget that will be more important than big transfer fees.
I fully back Warnock and understand his position so I dearly hope he gets backing.

That's the way I read it.

It will be stick or twist time in the summer and I'm firmly in the twist camp if NW stays on.

Annis with regards to the tone of headline there does appear to be a bit of a flip-flop.
But in reality none of us really know what's going to happen.
The only certainty with Cardiff City is uncertainty :ayatollah:

What we do know is Warnock took over from Tans previous managers and has steady the sinking ship and wants Tans support for next season and has stated he wants to stay and try and take us up :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:
