Neil Warnock's programme notes today v Burton Albion
This is what the gaffer has to say before today’s match against his former club
This is a special game for me as we host Nigel Clough, his staff, players and the travelling Albion fans.
Burton were one of the first clubs that I managed and I have fond memories of the old Eton Park. I’m sure some of those visiting today would have been around in my time and remember the cup runs we enjoyed. I was a chiropodist back then - how times have changed!
The success of Burton has gone under the radar in the past few years I think. Put into perspective the fact that when I was manager we used to play Derby County’s thirds in pre-season at the Bass Vase in front of two thousand - and that was our biggest game each year!
I felt pride a few weeks ago to see Nigel’s side beat Derby’s first team a few weeks ago; their story is one of the football stories of the last decade in my opinion.
