Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock says the club should never have got rid of David Marshall

BBC
16/01/17

Neil Warnock revealed he was in talks to bring a Premier League goalkeeper to the Cardiff City Stadium, and said he would not have sanctioned former keeper David Marshall's move to Hull City last summer.

"If I had been here all season I would have desperately gone out of my way to make sure he didn't leave," he added.

"We lost two goalkeepers on the last day [of the transfer window] and didn't recruit anybody, which has really snookered me really.

"I've been looking to get a permanent goalkeeper in now, I've made two offers for players which have both been turned town and now I'm trying to get somebody on loan from the Premier League."

Now wouldn't that be ironic?! :o

Replacing Scotland's No.1 with Scotland's No.2 ;)

It was absolute madness to let two keepers go, especially Marshall, and replace him with a clown on loan and with big wages! It affects the whole team, but especially the back four. Which was proved for nearly half of the season, we are still trying to rectify the madness, which will cost us again!

The signings by trollop makes you wonder doesnt it. bennett may come good as maybe Jaz hopefully not so far but the goalkeeper situation is dreadful business and also we needed last season we all said a pacey striker and who do we get
oh yea Ricki Lambert a striker who didnt have pace when he was top of his game but has not played for years as he got no pace
great signing

Hang on a second now, I know Trollope gets a bashing on here at times and some of it is justified but I don't think he can be blamed for our current GK situation.

He clearly had Moore and Marshall sold from underneath him and we in desperation ended up with Amos. The Club sold those GK's not Trollope.

Not to mention Fabio, the restraint's Trollope was working under were not great were they. I think Bennett is a class signing, one of the best left backs we have had for a few years now. In term's of Ricky Lambert most of our fans were waxing lyrical over that one at the time.

Like I said, Trollope was a failure but he wasn't responsible for everything

Agree with everything in this post. Bennett was a great signing and GK situation was a joke! A big reason why we've dropped so many points this year. The clubs decision to sell our 2 main Keepers and subsequently Wilson and Amos have cost us a fair few points this year.

Though it wasn't Trollope's decision to sell the likes of Moore, Marshall and Fabio ,he stood back and let it happen.
No way would Warnock have done that, as he's said.

Harsh comment with no fact to back it up.

What exactly was Trollope supposed to do? I'm 100% certain he didn't just 'stand back and let it happen'. Tan wanted to cash in on Marshall and Fabio and take the money for Moore. I'm sure Trollope made the case for keeping them but ultimately the Club sold them from underneath him. What could he have done other than resign in protest?

Warnock can say what he want's, mean's nothing, he wasn't in that position at that moment in time.

Where have I blamed Trollope?
He was just a yes man like Slade.

For it was 100% the so called committee decisions, which really is Tan and Choo's decisions.

Annis, if you follow the thread back you will see that a portion of the blame for the sales is being leveled at Trollope and you have just quoted a poster who has in effect agreed with that and said he is spot on.
