Cardiff to test Aberdeen's resolve with second bid for Jonny Hayes after seeing initial £500,000 offer rejected
Jonny Hayes has emerged as a transfer target for Cardiff City this month
Boss Neil Warnock has seen a £500,000 offer rejected by Aberdeen
Dons manager Derek McInnes does not want to sell the forward

Cardiff City will go back to Aberdeen with an increased offer for Jonny Hayes after an opening bid of £500,000 was kicked out.

Sportsmail first revealed Neil Warnock’s interest in the Republic of Ireland international last week.

Dons boss Derek McInnes is desperate to keep hold of Hayes for a tilt at the Scottish Cup and knocked back a bid on Thursday night.

Aberdeen forward Jonny Hayes is wanted by Cardiff City in the January transfer window

Aberdeen have rejected a £500,000 bid from the Championship club for the winger

Sportsmail understands Cardiff are preparing to go back with a second offer, the structure of the deal making it worth a potential £1million to the Dons if Hayes meets certain performance targets.

Warning he has other targets if Aberdeen continue to stonewall their offers, Warnock said last night: ‘I don’t know if we’ll go back in, you don’t put your eggs in one basket, we’ve got offers in.’

I've heard he is unsettled, I think we'll get him now, if we offer more it will be based on ifs and butts anyway.....

It now feels inevitable he will be coming here.

He is a quality player! his work rate, direct running style, technical ability are fantastic. Really hope he stays, and I think 1 million is still too cheap for him :(

Arite lads,

As a fellow Celt (of the real variety, not the 'we were destroyed by the Anglo-Saxons, and took it' variety), I'd like to issue you a personal hands off warning; which I'm sure you'll take seriously. We're in no dire need for income, and Hayes is worth more to us than whatever you're prepared to pay. We are no longer the pathetic substance from whome you stole McNaughton(legend).

In fact, I'm quite confident that we'd embarass you in a game of world cup.

In all seriousness, Hayes is about the best winger in your league. You'll be f*cking lucky if you get him, and if you do, fair play.

Who knows, he might fancy it....

Yer still all pretend Celts though, with yer funny language an shite rugby.

Either way it will affect you, if he goes you'll find it hard to replace, given your tiny budget, if he stays he will underperform as we've unsettled him :ayatollah:

Playing in the vile English leagues has tinted your view of real football mate...

Jonny Hayes is the type of player who would run to the end of the world to set up a chance for his bessy mate, Adam Rooney. Jonny Hayes never underperforms...His bessy mate is contracted til 2020, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Hayes sign another contract til then. Cardiff can't unsettle our players chief.

By all means though, get into a bidding war with Newcastle, Leeds etc. :occasion5:

At 29 this is a guy who isn't worth it he's already in his prime - there are other younger wingers as good with potential to be better in Britain for us to cast an eye over and waste money on.
