You'd assume he's making enough money right now to see him through for life, but I guess that's still never enough for anyone. Given his character, I don't think it would be long before he'd regret making a move out there.

He might aswell wait untill he's ready to retire and then go play a year or two out there. Ok the 30m may not still be there but i'm assuming he could still pick up a nice little pay rise/retirement fund.

he is 28, and fully entitled to make the most out of his career if he wants to earn a buck instead of winning major trophies. £30m is insane money. he'll be quadrupling his money. he was late to elite football, so he probably wants to cash in while he can.

on a side note, this must surely be the high water mark for players salaries. sky can't pass on any price increases without losing subscribers. many people, including me, are getting disillusioned by these salaries for non elite players.
