ABERDEEN have rejected a reported £500,000 bid from Cardiff for winger Jonny Hayes.

Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock contacted his Dons counterpart Derek McInnes earlier this week to discuss the Irishman.

Now the Welsh outfit have followed up with an official approach.

But the Pittodrie side say the offer does not match their valuation of the 29-year-old Republic of Ireland international.


Hayes, who has another 18 months left on his Reds deal, is currently with the rest of McInnes’ squad at their Dubai winter training camp.

Aberdeen said in a statement: “The club has confirmed that it received a bid late last night for winger Jonny Hayes from Cardiff City which has been rejected.”

Speaking to RedTV, McInnes added: “The bid fell way short of our valuation and that Jonny, as with all the squad, remains an integral part of the plans for the second half of the season.”

Pretty much.....with the same consistency! When he's good, he's great.

Both clubs are very tight lipped about this one.Just been browsing a couple of "Dons"forums and they got no more of a clue than we have.They got lots of idiots up there who think he's worth 2-3m Can't we unload some of our duds in return as they are all obviously delusional.

If he's getting 6-8 games a season in Europe then it quite clearly is European football. Most of us would love the chance of a European trip.

My opinion is that they are asking too much for s 29 year old. He's not going to get better so I hope the club look elsewhere.

Anything above 700k for a 29 year old winger for a club in our position doesn't seem like a good investment
