Lex Immers scored against Bremen (1-1) his first goal

The reigning champions can look back with a pretty good feel for the game against Werder Bremen. They played a 1-1 draw. Horvath, Palacios, fact and Strandberg pulled in the second half for the first time in the club's. Indeed, scored his first goal.

For the first exhibition game on Spanish soil against Bundesliga club Werder Bremen Michel Preud'homme left the established arrive kickoff. Dion Cools replaced at right back Ricardo Van Rhijn, while Stefano Denswil for the occasion left the defense was stationed. The newcomers Horvath, Palacios, fact and Strandberg got their first minutes after the break.

Club started very passionate. Also, the game technically Bruges had from the outset the upper hand. Werder - parked in the basement of the Bundesliga (15th place) and with a glorified B team between the lines - did not immediately answer. This prevalence was not surprising that the better scoring opportunities were recorded by blue-black silk. The work of Butelle was mainly limited to some pluck balls. Foxes, Vanaken, Engels and especially a very active Izquierdo took turns for a lot of threat in the German defense. The finishing touch was allowed to attend in coming, though there was a very very fine save by keeper Drobny needed to keep the Colombian for the opening goal.

For the second half retained only Engels - with captain - his site. With Lemoine, Touba and Vlietinck Club saw there suddenly a lot younger in the ranks. Black and blue continued to dominate the game play, but fell to experience at first little in the area of truth. Many exciting phases were the second half no longer with. The pace was also a good deal lower. In these circumstances, it was natural to assess the value of new faces. The new quartet in any case did not fall out of place.

In the final minutes both teams were still the way to the net. First Eggestein scored one of the few counterattacks the opening goal. Five minutes later hung the signs already tied thanks to a timely Lex Immers which outwitted cool as anything Wiedwald.

Was like that with us when he first joined. Don't think he has the ability to maintain it across a season, to be honest.

The 30-year-old has wasted no time since leaving Cardiff City last week

09/01/17

Lex Immers' move to Belgium appears to have breathed new life into his faltering career.

The Dutchman made his Club Brugge debut against German outfit Werder Bremen on Monday night and marked the occasion with a goal — his first since the April last year.

Immers hadn't mustered a goal this season for Cardiff City, making just a handful of appearances before his contract was ended by mutual consent.

Neil Warnock revealed his departure on Friday, saying: "He has not been in my plans since I've been here in fairness.

"He's got a lot on his plate, he's having a baby, so this suits both parties. It frees up a wage, he can go and enjoy himself for a time back home. We wish him well."

A move to the Belgian champions Brugge soon beckoned.

And Immers has been an instant hit in the Belgium captial. He struck an 85th minute equaliser for the home side in a friendly against Werder Bremen, making it 1-1 after the Bundesliga side had gone 1-0 up on 82 minutes.

The Dutch playmaker's previous goal came in the Bluebirds' 2-1 defeat at Fulham on April 9 2016. And as Neil Warnock's men try to put a repeat of that result in the FA Cup behind them going into a crucial Severnside derby with Bristol City on Saturday lunchtime, Immers gave Bluebirds fans a timely reminder of his qualites.

His five goals at the back end of last season almost precipitated a play-off charge for Russell Slade's side.

Immers' ability was never in question, despite the run of form that led to his exit. And the 30-year-old is now proving that form is temporary but class is permanent.

he looked very good last year, but has been p*ss poor this season and looked a liability. We know he has potential but his head is clearly elsewhere.
