Warnocks job.

Sun Jan 08, 2017 10:35 pm

We can all cry moan and complain about team selection today and Neil Warnock's comments after the match, but lets be honest Warnock was employed by the club because we were in the shit in the League.

His task this season is to ensure we do not get relegated, not win silverware.

Onwards and upwards chaps.

I imagine when he was employed he was told his objective was to keep the club in the Championship for next season. I doubt if there was any talk of the FA cup, and whether we agree or not, I don't expect Warnock was particularly bothered if we were knocked out in round three, four or five. Only the name of the winners on the trophy are ever remembered, and that was hardly likely to be us when we struggle to win a game at Championship level. I think he is probably relieved that he can focus all his efforts on the league, and if at the end of the season we are not one of the bottom three clubs, he will say that he has achieved what he was brought in to do. After all, before he arrived it looked as if we were heading towards Div 1 football next season, and who knows where after that.

Disagree - Football at times is al about momentum so after a great win against Villa we should have kept the winning habit going and continue to build going into two games against other relegation sides.

Some of the comments in the build up to this game are naive and stupid from an experienced manager. I have said before and will say it again that I think we should be a lot further forward under Warnock than we are.

You can't keep blaming the players the manager is there to work with them on a day to day basis and the intensity tempo and hunger is set from the top - if Warnock can't be arsed then the players most certainly won't.

Let's hope he don't come to regret it :ayatollah:

Wurzels (a), Burton (h), Reading (a) and Preston (h) in the next 4.

What do you think we will get out of that lot? I would like to say we should be targeting at least 7 points but 5 may not be a complete disaster, I think its important we don't loose against Wurzels or Burton so I would take a point now for Saturday and would hope we have enough to see off Burton. Don't fancy us at Reading and Preston is one of those that could go either way like Barnsley.

Thing is you can only do a tidy job if you have the tools available to do that job. There is only so much any manager can do with the players who are currently at the club. As far as the cup was concerned, Warnock did what most managers have appeared to do. I have not paid much attention to this weekends matches, but I noticed that even teams like Bournemouth (who made 11 changes to their normal line up) could'nt be bothered with this competition, while Liverpool played such a young side the majority of them will have their bonus paid in smarties if they win the replay. This competition is now an example of what happens when too much money is being thrown in all directions at the Premier League to the detriment of the rest of footballl in this country.

He was honest from the outset and used a few of the fringe players.

If he had doubts about them then he knows now like we do.

Let's give him a chance the other managers did and messed it up. I don't expect miracles in this window just a clear out and in the summer. He will bring in at least 8 in the summer, it took him a while at qpr but they were always resiliant :ayatollah:

don't get it, if he wasn't bothered about FA cup why not play all the players who he needs to look at or are their fates already sealed.
