Slavisa Jokanovic praises Fulham’s travelling fans after 2-1 victory over Cardiff City in the FA Cup

Sunday 8th Jan 2016

“We tried to give them something back"

Slavisa Jokanovic praised Fulham’s travelling crowd after his side progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 victory away to Cardiff City.

Around 700 or so fans made the trip to Wales for Sunday morning’s 11:30 kick off, and will likely face more travel chaos as they return to London with the 24hour tube strike scheduled for 6pm.

“Great credit to them, like always,” said the Fulham boss after the win. “I understand it’s a strange time to kick-off and we know how difficult a trip it was.

“We tried to give them something back and show them our good face today. I’m sure they’re going to push us hard for the rest of the season.

“We are obligated to always be professional, push hard and try and win the game, and I hope they were able to enjoy this game that we played today.”

Fulham dominated possession at the Cardiff City Stadium as they recovered from an early set back to seal their place in the next round.

Anthony Pilkington had put the hosts ahead with just seven minutes on the clock, but first half goals from Stefan Johansend (14minutes) and 16-year-old Ryan Sessegnon (33minutes) saw Fulham take a lead into the break which they maintained for the rest of the match.

Yes repaying their team for 10 plus years in the premier .looking like they could get back there.

We made them look like bloody Barcelona! Wrong tactics and wrong team!
Both Noone and O'Keefe should've started.
Why play wingbacks when we are useless with that system and Halford looked lost, for all his experience.
I like Warnock, but the future is with an ambitious young manager..Bellamy eventually.

Fulham are not a big club and have not been for 50 plus years, they are a small club, don't even have great home support.

I agree, it was a decent turnout by them all things considered.

In the old days Fulham would be lucky to bring 50 fans to Ninian Park.

I can remember playing them in I think it must have been Division 2 when they were just starting their march up the Leagues with the Al Fayed money and they hardly brought any other than a few in block A.

I remember the crowd was about 6,000 and that was huge for us at the time

They were indeed Annis, I used to sit in the Canton Stand back then, most of the youngsters used to sit in the far side and a few older heads used to sit by the Old Police Box, they were good times following Cardiff even though we were not succesfull I wouldnt change it for the world :bluescarf:

Don't agree sorry, putting our situation aside, imagine if we we're on a good run of games pushing for playoffs and club paying the travel we'd probably take more.

That's fair enough, everyone see's things differently.

700 is not great support per se I agree but in the context of who it was and what it was for I think it was decent, you have to remember Fulham are notoriously bad travelers, they were known for it even in their Premiership days as an embarrassment so for them to bring 700 to us for 11.30am Sunday game is great support by THEIR standards.
