" I WAS ACTUALLY APPALLED BY CITY'S TEAM TODAY "

CARDIFF CITY 1 FULHAM 2

Crowd 5,199 incl 700 Fulham fans

It's not the score that appalled me it was the team performance over all and the majority are first team players on a lot of wages.

If I was Neil Warnock I would want rid of the majority of them, even Joe Bennett who has been quite solid so far this season looked like he did not want to be out there.

Rickie Lambert biggest waste of money this season, I don't just mean to single two out as the majority of City players were awful.

New signing Halford was today, virtually a waste of space, hopefully we will see a massive improvement in him, but going by today no wonder Rotherham gave him away.

How was an ordinary Fulham was able to control the game so easy?

There was no fight,passion,togerthness and it was as though they never wanted to be there?

I AM SHOCKED AS THATS NOT LIKE A NEIL WARNOCK TEAM?

Annis, many have said lately that Fulham are now the best footballing side in the championship.

Also, to slightly defend Bennett (although he did have a mare), I believe Warnock got it all wrong today. The full backs had 0 support and we're left 1 on 1 too many times, a player like their winger should be doubled up on but Warnock didn't identify that before the game or change it early enough.

That aside, I thought the general desire and effort was piss poor. But it was half expected after what Warnock said about this fixture the other day wasn't it?

Jack, they can say what they want,there was no need for City to play that bad, it's not the result,it's the diabolical performance.

I think that's harsh on Bennett. He was outplayed by a far more skillful player. Plus he had no support from Harris early on. Second half we had about 5 players around their right sided player and just about managed to hold him off.

They played a very high defensive line which didn't suit us as lambert isnt a runner. Zohore would've done far better in that role today.

I think our fault lied in the wings today. Harris and Pilks could not beat their men. But neither could Noone or Huws when they took on that role late on.

Completely agree Annis! Cardiff always looked the poorer side! Fulham played some nice football but weren't any better than some teams we've faced this season. At least Warnock knows who deserves their place now and who needs to go! Mark Harris should be exciting if he can get a few more chances :thumbright:

Out paced all over the park and 2nd to the ball, only Bamba and Murphy had a good game noone huff and puffs with no end product,we got Lambert who is great in the air buy not quick and they are playing 40 yards balls for him to run on to we Need wingers and pacey midfielders asap

It has been said before (and it has been mentioned today again) that Warnock seems exempt from criticism for whatever reason. He set the team up awfully today and the new signing he brought in was abysmal. He is a good manager but he is also very good at shifting the blame - which many seem to lap up. Currently Warnock is even more to blame than the players if you ask me, it is his job to fire the players up and make good tactical decisions, currently he doesn't seem to be doing either.

We clearly needed pace and wingers what does he do bring in halford why why why

Bennett under Warnock until today as I've said has been solid :thumbright: but for me today along with the majority of CIty Players, he let us down in my opinion.

He came from a A Premier League club.

Annis - I think that just showed how bad Trollope's signings were this summer. Lambert, Huws, Bennett and Richards were all dreadful. So many players were swanning around with no intensity or aggression and allowed Fulham to do as they pleased. The likes of Pilkington also gave us nothing and showed why he is not a regular. I only hope Halford can dramatically improve. He certainly doesn't look like a midfielder after that!

Thankfully It will be a very different team and mentality against Bristol.

Seems to be turning out to be more disastrous than Ole and that's saying something. :o

On the plus side at least Trollope didn't spend big transfer fees like Ole but his signings have been woeful!

At least we never played our youth team. Imagine what Liverpool fans must feel having just seen their under 14's held 0-0 at home by Plymouth.

Whilst part of me is glad to see the cup done with a afull focus now on battling relegation it still frustrates me when I see players being paid thousands who look like they can't be parsed, standing off, not chasing every ball down. Simply no excuse for not trying.

Unfortunately we are suffering from the business done by our previous managers of late. Today as far as I am concerned proved that.

This was a time for our fringe players to make a mark. They failed to do that. Why? Perhaps not good enough or the setup was wrong. In fairness to them some of the blame must be put on the setup but I wonder if although in a new situation they failed to do what was asked.

Re: " I was actually Appalled by that "

Sun Jan 08, 2017 3:46 pm

A game that nobody wanted to play. If we had been allowed to withdraw from the competition we probably would have done so (and many other teams too) Cup football is dying - the league is everything. The only thing that might revive it is the abolition of the League Cup, and even that might not work.

I'm glad we're out with hopefully no injuries. We also saw why some of the fringe players aren't good enough. Forget about it and move on.

Your right Annis but we can't right Bennett off from one game as many seem to be

totally agree with jimbo , Trollop was a disaster for Cardiff City his signings were terrible today proved that they are either totally rubbish or do not care either way get rid hate the idea City paying them for their display today

Re: " I was actually Appalled by that "

Sun Jan 08, 2017 4:05 pm

The City were very very poor today. Several players were abysmal, such as Pilkington, Bennett, Halford and a few others.
The only man who had a decent game for City was Sol Bamba. If you picked a team from all the players on the field today only Bamba from City would get in the Eleven.

Re: " I was actually Appalled by that "

Sun Jan 08, 2017 4:08 pm

I felt sorry for Halford today as he put in such a dreadful team he deserves another chance with some players who want to play for City like Gunnerson and whits.

I felt sorry for joe ralls Kadeem harris Bamba and Murphey the rest of them can go please a terrible performance and I never thought I would see such a gutless performance under warnock

Bennett was left exposed to a very fast player even mamba would have struggled one on one with him!

Out of interest and for no particular reason our squad today was made up of players signed by.

In Total

Malky = 5
Trollope = 5
Slade = 3
Warnock = 3
Ole = 2

Wasn't it just Bamba and halford today for warnock ?

Re: " I was actually Appalled by that "

Today I was looking for a performance over the result and we didn't see that.
I was also hoping for some of the fringe players to emerge and press for a start, but they didn't.
We really missed a Gunnar style performance and starting with O'Keefe might have been a better option as he needs game time too.
I was hoping for better from Halford, but he looked like a pub player with a dodgy haircut. The important thing for him was to get some game time.
Sol was Sol thankfully and Murphy pulled off one decent save.

It can be difficult for a team who hasn't played together before but there just wasn't any creativity there for us. As good as the Fulham attack is, I think their defence is there to be exposed. In the league game at The Cottage Harris made an impact as a sub with his energy when he came on and being an impact sub seems to be his best role at the moment.
If you play with wingbacks they often have to be your best players and ours aren't.

I'm sure it will concentrate Warnock's mind into who should stay and who he wants to shift, and what he wants to try to get in during the window.

I included Mark Harris mate because Warnock is the one who has offered him his first pro contract so technically he is a Warnock signing in my eyes but I guess that is open to interpretation.

The slagging off of the Trollope signings is a bit unfair aswell to be brutally honest.

Murphy is his signing but he had just had Marshall and Moore sold from underneath him. Murphy also been praised since he's come in aswell.

Richards was a straight swap for Malone, there were not many complaints about that one at the time, most of our fans were well happy with the deal, it went a bit pear shaped after the 'ayatolahgate'.

Bennett has been a good signing as far as I'm concerned, he might have had a poor game today but since he has come in he has been more than decent, I's surprised at the flak he's getting.

Emyr Huws maybe crap he my come good, he's not realy had a fair crack of the whip yet.

And finally Ricky Lambert, our fans were waxing lyrical over that signing, he was going to be the answer to all our prayer's, there were not many complaint's about that one.
