" These First Team Cardiff Players Could be Leaving "

Sat Jan 07, 2017 9:57 pm

Neil Warnock is under pressure to get rid of more senior players, so he can strengthen the team how he would like it to be, so dont be surprised to see any of the following players leaving.

As already 10 DVP players have been told to leave.

Plus Senior players Lex Immers,Kieran Richardson, Tom Adeyemi and Marouane Chamakh have been released in the last week.

Craig Noone

At 29 years old, Noone is one of the players that the Bluebirds could cash-in on. Featuring mostly from the bench under Warnock, the former Brighton & Hove Albion man hasn't managed any goals or assists so far this season, which has seen him drop down the pecking order.

He has previously been subject of interest from former club Albion, as well as Norwich in recent seasons. If Noone was put into the shop window, there's no doubt he could attract offers from potential new suitors.

Anthony Pilkington

Despite being the Bluebirds' joint top-scorer, 'Pilks' has also struggled to cement a first team place under his current manager. Spending the majority of last season playing out of position, the 28 year-old has returned to his natural wide position under Warnock, but was left out of City's most recent triumph over Aston Villa.

With Warnock seeming to favour Kadeem Harris and Junior Hoilett, as well as targeting a new winger in the transfer market , the Irish international could seek a move elsewhere. He did sign a new contract in September, which would maximise the fee Cardiff would receive.

It would be a big call to let the former Norwich man leave given his form over past season or two, but if Warnock feels he can bring in players more suited to his tactics, this could be the one departure that brings in significant cash.

Bruno Manga

Currently away at the African Cup of Nations, Warnock has already expressed his desire to sell the Gabon international. With his wages believed to be the highest in the squad, the purchase of Greg Halford could see the 28 year-old wave goodbye to South Wales.

Cardiff would hope to get a decent fee for Managa, although clubs may be prepared to wait until the summer when his contract expires.

The fact he is missing for the next month is not ideal for any potential suitors so he could be a player who departs late in the window.

Stuart O'Keefe

The 25-year-old is another who isn't getting much game time in the Welsh capital despite always acquitting himself well. Suffering an injury at the end of last season, O'Keefe hasn't re-discovered his brilliant form which saw him become one of the best in City's ranks.

With just eight first team appearances so far this season, the Bluebirds may well have to free up some space in the centre of midfield, and the former Palace man could be first out of the door.

With the likes of Joe Ralls, Peter Whittingham, Aron Gunnarsson, Emyr Huws and even Sol Bamba all able to play in the middle of the park, O'Keefe's City career could be cut short.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Matthew Kennedy leave as he's very unhappy he's not playing any first team.. he has asked to leave but I believe they have stopped it so hopefully see him getting some game time soon.

Don't want O'Keefe to go

Okeefe for me should stay. I assume he's not on the money pilks manga and noone would be, and at his best he's the closest we have to a midfield General with a bit more vision than gunnars imo. He's been vocal and instructive in the games I've seen him in
Hope he stays and if he does, hope he gets his form back and stays injury free.

Gunnar and O'Keefe should be the mainstays of our midfield. There's no way they should even consider O'Keefe leaving. There's other midfielders we could jettison and improve the squad.

Whole squad needs to be rebuilt, I don't think Warnock is the man to do it either.

I'd give the job to Gary Rowett. Worked wonders with Birmingham and was unfairly sacked imo.

You have to wonder how we ended up with some of them. Lambert has been a very big disappointment to me this season. I really thought he would get the goals we were missing. I would keep him away from first team duties so we can jettison him in the summer without having to activate the second year on his contract.

Rowett is a very manager I wouldn't argue with that. But changing the manager every 5 minutes is no good for the club in the long run. NW is the man to sort the mess out long term and I would hope the club does it's best to help him do that.

ah but he won't be here long term unless he going upstairs with CB taking the reigns.

Totally daft talking about changing manager. Give Warnock a two-year contract and prepare Bellers to take over (which is already happening, to be fair). At this moment, we need stability.
