NEIL WARNOCK:"WHY WE HAVE SIGNED HIM"

Sat Jan 07, 2017 11:15 am

Neil Warnock:

"We signed Greg Halford from Rotherham on a free transfer, I know him well"

"I had Greg at Rotherham last year and I'm glad to get him on board."

"He's a great utility player and he can play in loads of positions."

"We were short at the back against Brentford and I had to bring on a midfielder and drop him into defence, I don't want to be in that position again. I'd rather have one player too many and have to leave him out than be caught short like that again."

Logical enough.
Wonder why Rotherham allowed him to leave though. Why let another competing club have a valuable player unless you've given up on staying ip

Certainly seems sensible to me. Clearly, Warnock has the tactical nous to identify problem areas and will look for solutions as efficiently as possible. Not surprisingly he will identify with players he has worked with previously because they are known quantities to him. So called "journeymen" aren't always as disappointing as they're made out to be if they are used correctly. Halford could be a useful signing for us.

With regard to Rotherham letting him go, I think they may well be resigned to relegation and recognise the need to adjust as quickly as possible.

Maybe we will allow Rotherham to keep Adeyemi as part of the Halford deal?

I think you've hit the nail on the head. I guess everyone has Rotherham nailed on for relegation, and I think they must realise that they are in an impossible position as far as avoiding relegation is concerned. I think Wigan and Burton are a good bet to go down, with Rotherham as a cert.

I reckon a deal was struck up,as it happened at the same time, they kept Adeyemi :thumbright: :bluebird:

Also apparently there are some off field issues there and Halford's not been happy since Warnock left.

Looking at him today is he any better than Connely ????

He is much worse than Connolly. Absolutely shocking performance from him. Cannot see what he offers at all.

Redicoulus desition to put him straight into the side. Don't think he is good enough overall, but give the lad some time to acclimatize.

He is not a midfielder that's for sure!

Re: NEIL WARNOCK:"WHY WE HAVE SIGNED HIM"

I could understand the rationale behind Warnock signing him, but that was before seeing today's performance. Certainly no midfielder and thus far, way behind Connolly.

Rotherham are bottom because they play poorly.....

Re: NEIL WARNOCK:"WHY WE HAVE SIGNED HIM"

Think it unfair to judge him from today as he was with so many bad players who had no interest or heart I will like to see him play when we have our team who want to try for Warnock we may seem him play better so today I will keep my judgement on halford.

However I have seen enough to say how we been robbed with other players we signed by trollop and hope we can say good riddance to them

He looks like he's destined to be a sub. We need to sign players who are better than ones we've got.

He was pants today but on the plus side his performances can only improve.

Can we send him back?

Well at least that's easy. We might as well sign half the Football League.
