Davis new contract at Brum not looking good?

Neil Warnock is monitoring developments and is ready to move if negotiations drag on.

Birmingham City midfielder David Davis is wanted by Cardiff City and Nottingham Forest with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

Davis, 25, has been a key player for Blues this season and new manager Gianfranco Zola has been impressed with the former Wolves man after replacing Gary Rowett at the helm.

A new contract is likely to be tabled by Blues but Mail Online report that Cardiff boss Neil Warnock is keeping tabs on the situation ahead of a potential January swoop.

They are joined in the hunt by Nottingham Forest who are considering Davis as they look to replace captain Henri Lansbury.
Blues were interested in Lansbury under Rowett but Zola has decided to pursue other targets with Aston Villa and Derby now keen on the former Arsenal midfielder.

Davis has scored three times in his 25 matches for Blues this term and supporters will be keen to see his future at St Andrew's resolved in the near future.

At first glance thought we were in for that Welsh MP :laughing5:

Apparently this Brum lad is a decent defensive midfielder and rated highly by Dean Saunders and a few other footballers.

Bluebirds target Birmingham City midfielder - reports

The Daily Mail are reporting Cardiff are weighing up a move for David Davis as the Birmingham City midfielder enters the final six months of his contact.

Nottingham Forest are also tracking the situation with discussions over a new deal for Davis at Birmingham understood to be at an impasse.

Davis is a key player for Birmingham and Gianfranco Zola is said to have been very impressed since taking over from Gary Rowett.

Zola has restored Davis to central midfield and privately given his backing for the 25-year-old’s long-term future at the club to be sorted this month.

But Neil Warnock is monitoring developments and is ready to move if negotiations drag on.

Forest may also act if Henri Lansbury leaves, with Aston Villa and Derby lodging bids.

Davis has scored three Championship goals this season, including a fine equaliser against rivals Villa, and was instrumental in Rowett’s only full campaign on charge.

Could Birmingham be about to cover for the loss of David Davis?

It's rumoured strongly Davis wants to leave Brum

Ironically they brought him to replace Adeyemi.

If Forest want him to replace Lansbury then he must be a good player. So if he wants to leave Birmingham then he is worth monitoring. If he has to make a decision between us and Forest I have a gut feeling it will be us. Call it the Warnock factor because at Forest their setup is very flakey where with our manager its starting to look steady at last.

Surely if we get/target wingers it means that the current ones aren't in Warnocks thoughts? So could it mean one/two of either Pilks, Kennedy, Harris, Noone are off -Hoillet after all is his man we don't need 6 wingers surely??
I'd have thought a 10/AM would be more of a weak point in the team??

From the little that I've seen of him, he seems OK.

What I would say though, is if he is that good and thought of by his club, why would they allow him to leave for teams below them in the table? Why would he want to leave in those circumstances? Surely, if they have this reported "war chest" then they will be wanting to keep their better players as well? Would either yourselves of Forest offer him a better deal than the one that his current club will offer?

I don't know that much about BCFC but I can't get my head round them allowing one of their better players to leve (if indeed, that is what he is)

Centre midfield isn't a priority. O'Keefe hasn't had a look in and he was one of our better players second half of last season. Huws is a talent, but you couldn't play him and Whitts in the same team (no pace).
We must sign a keeper and goal-scoring winger.

He's a fantastic player and he's better than any of our current central midfielders - apart from Gunnarsson. Birmingham want him to sign a new contract. It's just he isn't happy with the new deal that they offered him. So hopefully Neil Warnock can work his magic and bring him here. A barrier in front of our defence consisting of Gunnarsson and Davis would be quality. It would then allow our third central midfielder and three forwards to do what they do best, attack.

If we can bring in Davis, a lightening quick winger like Camara from Derby and a top striker, then we can definitely start making strides up the table. We have to sell a few more players to fund our transfers, especially for the striker that we want. In my opinion there is only one striker that Neil Warnock wants more than any other and that is Nakhi Wells of Huddersfield. I have read quite a few articles, interviews etc, that Warnock has done and when he talks about Championship strikers who he likes, he always bangs on about him and he always talks him up. The one good thing about us going in for Wells, is that he is not a regular all the time and especially this season he has been in and out of the team. Wells might have thoughts about joining another club and playing for a new manager. Maybe a new manager who has got great belief, faith and confidence in him. Just like Warnock. The huge negative is, Huddersfield want at the very least £8m+ for him. For a start we haven't got that kind of money and if we did, I don't think we could justify spending all that on one player. Especially as we need more than just one or two new players in this window.
