why did we chant ?

few years ago, (not sure if its the same now) at a few games, our fans would chant "harald shipman is a bluebird". im a bit young but could someone educate me on that one ?

They used to sing Harrold Shipman is our friend, he kills english, presumably to get a rise out of the away support, bit sick realy.

Im not easily offended but I agree it wasnt good. It is the type of thing our fans would have had a meltdown over if the boot had been on the other foot.

Have to remember though, and Im not excusing it that most of those singing it would have been kids who probably didnt even have any grasp over the evil that was Shipman.

Just as some of the chants that were sung at Rotherham away this year regarding children's sexual abuse by our fans.

Are you serious? I wasn't aware of that, good god, what is wrong with people ffs.

whoaaaaa now, not condoning this for one instant but away fans are no angels, some will remember the Manure chanting Aberfan Aberfan, (we did chant Munich Munich back mind ) also Dave Jones took some vile abuse over kiddy fiddling over the years.

Many years ago after a game about five of us went into a pub in Town. There was this guy in there and he was a dead ringer (no pun intended) for Harold Shipman it was spookey. We then let rip into the Harold Shipman song and the look on his face was priceless. Our excuse we were plastered and that song accidentally just came out

Most of us would have been there mate, I have sung some pretty close to the line stuff at the Football when I was younger that when you look at it isn't good at all just to get a rise out of the opposition fans

I can remember playing Leeds a few years after the FA Cup game in the League and almost the entire block A of the Grandstand was singing 'Istanbul, Istanbul, Istanbul', now that is not a song I would join in with, the Leeds fans started going mental and I don't blame them to be honest.

You can forgive the kids for singing crap but when its grown men its a little bit sad realy aint it?

Guaranteed that 99% of people from that era of Ninian Park chanted/sung the words "Alan Shipman is our friend". It's "vile" etc shows how judgement fans have become in the modern era. The PG era of football is full of non-character stadiums, £5 pints & fans who want to sit in peace. Yes it's a sick chat, but every team in the land had its chants. Some still do them today. We're lucky these days to get a "Bluebirds, bluebirds" chant started after a goal.

No excuse though is it. Singing about murdered victims of a serial killer or victims of child abuse is not (and never was) something that made football great, whether lots of people did it or not is irrelevant. A large part of the terraces used to make monkey noises at black players too, thankfully these are increasingly becoming just a memory. This is from someone around in the era of which you speak too by the way.

Absolutely cringeworthy, even more so as we have plenty of English fans......

I'm English but none of the anti English chants bother me. That one is pretty horrid though. It's our English players' thoughts that I worry about.
