What you need to know about Cardiff target Ibrahim Meite
We take you through what you need to know about Cardiff City target Ibrahim Meite after Neil Warnock announced that the club have signed a Non-League striker.
Cardiff have been on the lookout for a new striker after their lack of goals have been evident over the years and with the club going down a different route by signing a non-league striker, this could be a gamble with minimal risk that could pay off in a huge way.
Ibrahim Meite has been on trial with the club since December and could well be the striker Neil Warnock eludes to when he says he’s signed a non-league front-man.
Here’s everything you need to know about Meite, the 20-year-old striker who currently plays for Ryman Premier League club Harrow Borough.
HE HAS THE BACKING OF HIS MANAGER
Harrow Borough manager Steve Baker could not stop singing the praises of his star man when speaking to The Kilburn Times.
“He’s still very raw but his potential is absolutely huge. He’s got pace to burn and he scores goals. If you’ve got those two attributes you’ve got a real chance of being a success in the game.”
HE HAS ALREADY PLAYED FOR THE CLUB
Due to the nature of Meite’s contract, it allowed him to feature for Cardiff City’s Development team in their goalless draw against Blackburn Rovers, when he come on as a substitute for Eli Phipps.
Whether that means that Meite will be a signing for the Development side remains to be seen but with Warnock in attendance, he did no harm in trying to impress his potential new manager.
HE’S A MAN IN DEMAND
He had previously been on trial at Premier League side Leicester City, showing that he has the potential to play for the Premier League Champions.
He has also had a long line of suitors in the Football League with AFC Wimbledon, Bristol City, Oxford and Peterborough interested. With such a long list of clubs interested in bringing him to the club, it may show the pulling power of Neil Warnock, to make him choose Cardiff over the other clubs.
HIS STYLE OF PLAY
From the recommendation of former Harrow Borough player Godfrey Torto, the 20 year-old striker posses an abundance of pace in which the Bluebirds could utilise, after Warnock persisting with Kenneth Zohore, the target striker could provide the headers for Meite to latch onto.
His current manager described him as ‘still very raw’ so it means that Meite could perhaps be tasked with simply using the ball at his feet, in the way Kadeem Harris has to god effect. Cardiff will need to be patient, give the change of level but he could yet be the next Jamie Vardy, who knows?
His 17 goals in 30 appearances means that he is a prolific striker, being described as ‘The Shark‘ with the Harrow Borough faithful due to his predatory instinct in front of goal.

Sounds like he's got the right attributes, a few months with bellers will sort him out. Perhaps we'll see him in the closing games of the season if we're clear of relegation.
