Sean Morrison

Why do WalesOnline hate Sean Morrison so much?

Chris Wathan gave him a 6/10, the lowest rating bar Hoilett (who went off injured in the first half).

Was Chris watching the same game as me? Or did I miss something about Morrison's performance that was so bad?

He has been poor of late but he played well yesterday.

He's been better than Manga, but always seems to be the target of abuse while Manga is a world beater?

Jason Perry was singing his praises on Radio Wales?

Been good for most of the part he is here, just others in defence have let him down as well as himself in the odd game but he puts his body on the line and makes big interceptions and challenges.. also good in the air... basically scored a goal for us yesterday with that interception first half.

Watching the interception again on the highlights made me realise just how good it was!

I wouldn't have manga down as a world beater but he does make up for his mistakes and gets himself out of the shit because of his pace. Morrison is frustrating because he goes from being a absolute rock winning every ball one game to being poorly positioned, easily turned and beaten in the air to easily the next game. It's his level of consistency that let's him down.

Unless a howler from Ross was going to happen you are talking 1-1 there.

Consistency seems to be a problem for Morrison.

I think he benefitted greatly yesterday from having Bamba playing in front of the back four as it protected him from having players running directly at him.

Where Media wales did have a fair point was that his distribution was very poor. Ben Turner was always criticised for lumping the ball upfield to nobody in particular and Morrison is just as bad if not worse.

However, on the other hand, that interception was superb and arguably helped win the game for us and great credit to him for that.

He deserved at least a 7 yesterday. He has been poor latelly, but he made some match saving blocks/tackles against villa. Watham is a prick.

You hit the nail on the head there.I think the whole defense benefited from the holding position Bamba occupied and maybe that will be NW's priority in the transfer window. It looks as though Manga will be gone soon so a genuine holding midfield player maybe top of his list.

Morrison struggles with the lack of midfield options given to him, especially with headers. Gunnarsson pretty much fits into the back 4 from long balls forward towards Morrison, while Whitts and Ralls often have sat too deep there too. Means if Morrison's headers can't reach Ken on the halfway line then they're always going to fall to the likes of Ryan Woods at Brentford an example.

I'd be happy to see another CB come in and bamba play that role every game. He was immense in that role.
