Cardiff and Swansea face- DEADLINE DAY CHAOS!

Tue Jan 03, 2017 2:59 pm

Swansea City are one of 14 Premier League clubs who could have their transfer plans thrown into disarray on deadline day - unless they can get their business wrapped up early.

While Cardiff City are one of 18 Championship clubs who also face the same conundrum.

The final few hours of the transfer window has become an event in itself during the past few years, with thousands tuning in and logging on for live updates on the final frantic few hours of business.

But this year the final evening looks set to be even more hectic than usual. As well as last minute deals being pushed through, Tuesday January 31 will see seven Premier League fixtures taking place.

Coupled alongside nine matches in the Championship, the evening looks set to be a busy one for both the Bluebirds and the Swans.

With all the matches kicking off at either 7.45pm or 8pm, clubs will have to get their deals done earlier in the evening - or risk missing out on their man altogether.

Paul Clement, who is expected to be named Swansea City manager, could face a hectic deadline day
The transfer window will close at 11pm on January 31, and with several games not due to finish until 10pm - including Liverpool vs Chelsea - clubs will be more keen than ever to get their plans in place as early as possible.

This is the first time since the January transfer window was introduced in the 2002/3 season that such a large number of matches have taken place on the evening of deadline day itself.

While the final stages of any transfer are handled by people behind the scenes, the manager and his staff obviously have a big say in recrutiment.

But with managers on the touchline on the evening of deadline day, will we see a glut of deals going through much earlier than usual before the window slams shut?

Will this familiar scene be brought forward as clubs look to wrap things up before their matches?
Swansea City are in action on deadline day as they host Southampton at the Liberty, and with their match finishing somewhere around 9.30pm, they are unlikely to have time to wrap up any deals after kick-off.

Cardiff City take on Preston at Cardiff City Stadium, in a match which also kicks off at 7.45pm.

While the window closes at 11pm, there is some leeway with clubs being allowed to finalise moves the following day as long as all the paperwork is in place.

Swansea City star Modou Barrow linked with Crystal Palace move after Newcastle United FC interest

With another three Premier League matches on February 1, it's unlikely those clubs will be leaving their business too late either.

Some of the biggest transfers in recent seasons have come on transfer deadline day, including Mezut Ozil's move to Arsenal, Luis Suarez joining Liverpool, and Anthony Martial's big money move to Old Trafford.

It looks like fans of Jim White and his yellow tie may have to tune in a few hours earlier this year to catch all the last minute deals.

Not all his posts are made stickys, and always best to have the big stories at the top.

But I agree there were too many stickies, so I just removed some - including a few of mine that were still up there.

Listen, its nothing personal I don't know the bloke I'm sure he's a thoroughly nice guy that I would happily share a Pint with but you will have to take my word for it when I say ALL his post's have been sticky's over the past week, even one about his Mrs buying him a City shirt, if he's not making them sticky's someone else is.

He also writes in good English with no spelling or grammatical errors. This is too much to bear for many on this board!

Just trying to get new stories noticed but I will take your point on board and be a bit more selective. The stories people are interested in generally find their way to the top. To be fair you are the first person to complain so it cant be said that I don't listen. :thumbright: :ayatollah:

Nothing personal mate

I'm not the first to complain about them (sticky's in general), loads have over the years but it's not my Forum at the end of the day so leave them up if you want.

I'v never been a fan of sticky's, we all have access to BBC, Sky Sports, Wales Online etc, I just come on here to read random threads/opinions people put up and have a bit of debate sometimes, there were 20 sticky's on here earlier, some of them were about the same thing, some of them had already been posted but lost down the board.

Just my opinion and no offence is intended :ayatollah:
