If Bruce could have made 11 changes he would have!

Steve Bruce will have wished he could have hauled off all 11 Aston Villa players

Gregg Evans provides his analysis after the defeat at Cardiff City

All 11 could have been dragged off

Withdrawing two central midfielders at half-time is rare.

But while Gary Gardner and Ashley Westwood deserved to be replaced at the interval following a no-show display in the first half, there could have been no complaints from any of the players if they were hauled off at half-time.

If Bruce could have made 11 changes I’m sure he would have.

Villa were that bad.

It was just in the middle of the park where they were even worse.

First-half horror show

Just what is going on with Villa’s first-half performances this season?

On the road they can’t seem to get going in the opening period and it’s left boss Steve Bruce seriously vexed.

The manager has tried changing his squad and his system but still it’s not paying dividends.

This game could have been wrapped up by the break as Cardiff ran riot and Villa can’t afford to keep labouring through periods like this.

Missed by a Mile

Mile Jedinak, the man who organises Villa’s midfield, missed the game through illness and his presence was severely missed.

Jedinak himself creaked a little bit against Leeds last week, but he has the nous to battle through even on off days.

Without him not only were Villa unable to win the midfield battle in the first half, they also left the defence exposed and Cardiff were able to take advantage.

A chance at last

It was good to see Rushian Hepburn-Murphy introduced in this game and although he didn’t make an impact in the closing stages, he will in times ahead.

The 18-year-old is close to signing a new deal at the club and could be a big part of Villa’s future.

Striker light

Fair play to Gabby Agbonlahor because today he looked interested.

He had Villa’s only chances from open-play and if he can get a morale-boosting goal it will do him the world of good.

With Jonathan Kodjia away at the Africa Cup of Nations, Jordan Ayew joining him this week and Rudy Gestede waiting in the departure lounge for Teesside with his bags packed, Villa are light on numbers up top.

I'm not a football manager but other teams seem to manage to deal with it.

Maybe Warnock really is the smartest guy the room as his ' tactics' worked. We have very few creative players as our squad is really not that good so kick shit out of them and stop them playing.

I agree with much of what saying Stefan, my point is that Bruce could have dealt with it better not least because he is far better manager than Warnock.

Warnock and his team do what they always do. We have the better calibre of players but if half of them showed the bottle that Warnock's teams do we wouldn't get dicked away from home every fortnight.

Gutless **** turds.

i was present at the game.

first half we didnt tumn up , adohma was poor except for one flashy run.

bacuna was out of it playing wide.

cardiffs goal was a scrappy mess , but they outplayed us and should have had 3 goals.

gardner and westwood are like frightened rabbits , much too lightweight.

second half we were much better with bacuna and tsibola in midfield and the game came to life!.

agbonlahor made a diiference and we had a lot more play , he was unlucky not to score thanks to their goalie , who also stopped a very good mccormack freekick , sadly mccormack acheived nothin in spite of trying hard.

tisolba looks like a real deal to me , and bruce must play him , we have no chance with gardner and wesytwood togethor.

without grealish we would not have got near goal .

we had some chances both bacuna and westwood blazed over from good positions.

cardiff deserved to win and bruce must get the best team selected .

i think the ref has a few things to answer for , should have asserted authrity ealier , must have been 8/9 yellow cards .

Just had a quick browse on their forum. They are full of praise for warnock and their team today. They also have no sympathy for grealish and didn't think he got treated unfairly but obviously they would say that. Regardless whether he got treated unfairly or not we should of had enough to beat this pile of shit. We just can't battle like Cardiff did.

Id like to watch a game sometime and see our plays injure the opposition and kick seven shades of shit out of them and get away with it...

Just be nice for a change...
