Huddersfield Town have launched a bid for Nurnberg striker Guido Burgstaller, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Burgstaller has been outstanding for Nurnberg this season and is currently top goalscorer in 2 Bundesliga with 14 goals in 16 appearances this term.

The 27-year-old's blistering form has brought him to the attention of a host of clubs during this month's transfer window and Huddersfield are hoping to lure him back to English football.

Burgstaller had a short spell at Cardiff City joining the club in May 2014 from Rapid Vienna before leaving the following January after struggling to make an impact at the Welsh club.

The Austrian international scored on his Cardiff debut, but made just five appearances in all competitions during his brief stint at the club.

Burgstaller is in the final six months of his contract at Nurnberg and Huddersfield are hoping to persuade the German club to cash-in on him now rather than risk allowing him to see out his contract.

Huddersfield boss David Wagner is keen to bolster his attacking options in this month's transfer window and sees Burgstaller as someone who could score the goals to fire their promotion bid to the Premier League.

Another one never given a proper chance by us. Looked a decent player to me and let go too soon.

My thoughts exactly. Tall, quick, hardworking with a decent left foot.

This signing totally baffled me, looked decent the little time he played, a run of games he could of improved but fuk knows what went on, we can turn any decent player shit we are good at that, destroying confidence too another thing we are good at.

Out of them all at the time, he was the one who I thought was most suited to us and the championship. Strong, hard working player and looked decent from the little I saw of him.
He's obviously got an eye for goal as well.

well if that's the case then maybe Tan has got an eye for a player as apparently he signed Velikonja & Guerra too - two more who never got a fair chance and who have scored goals everywhere else they have been.

Yes but the managers didn't want them that's why they didn't play.

left to the managers we pay £8 million for Cornelius and god knows how much for the likes of Le Fondre & Doyle while Tan "apparently" buys three half decent strikers for not much money combined and they don't get played, but do well elsewhere. You can understand why he has been pissed off with what's going on at the club...

I was impressed with him every time I saw him. It does make you wonder how many of our other former players would have come good for us under better management. At the same time I wonder if we we would still be playing in the Premier now had our managerial history proved different.

spot on mate - hopefully now we will have a period of stability under Warnock. Not seen him this season but everyone now seems to be raving about Zohore's improvement recently, so hopefully Tan has his eyes on another striker to bolster the squad :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:
