Neil Warnock - Thought We Might Be Higher In League ?

Sat Dec 31, 2016 8:49 pm

Neil Warnock was definitely the fans favourite and with his experience do we think we have made the progress we should have under his leadership ?

For me I thought with the appointment he would have got the team working together better, therefore we would have built more momentum and been further clear than we are.

I am sure there will be plenty of wheeling and dealing in January with the squad freshened up but we need to put a run of four or five games together to ensure there is some distance between us and the relegation places

I think when he can bring in some new faces things will improve more rapidly. He has been working with other managers signings, but he cannot stop players losing concentration no matter how hard he tries. He knows there are some players here not good enough

I think people set the bar too high when he arrived. He's had some great success but he isn't a magician!

yes it was a bit better at moment but 2 wins and 2 draws in nxt 4 would equal it.

What do you class as great success ? I think it is more average than even good. Initially the first three results were good but then seemed to have dropped away from a new manager momentum. The argument of working with other managers players does not stack up as he showed an initial improvement.

The bar was not set high by me but I expected us to be further away from the relegation battle than we are and am I not right in thinking Warnock stated playoffs were a possibility ?

In his interviews he seems frustrated by players not following his instructions. It's also ironic that when he took over we had no firepower but were reasonably solid at the back, but now we are scoring goals but being let down by our defence. For me Morrison needs to be dropped but that's unlikely now Bruno is off to Africa. January will be key now in terms of who comes in

I think expectations on this forum are often unrealistically high. I don't believe that is down to any lack of football knowledge, more that some people are wearing their blue tinted glasses permanently and are not prepared to look further than Cardiff City. So far we have had posters tipping us for automatic promotion, some going for the play offs, and then others predicting the signing of Lambert was going to fire us into the Premier League.
Warnock has got more or less the same group of players here that Trollope had. They are down at the bottom because they are not good enough to be anywhere else. Warnock is not a miracle worker, and is going to be limited to what can be done with the current squad. Unless he can make a few clever signings over the next few weeks, I don't think we will see any significant improvement in results. My expectations were low from the start of the season, although like others I thought we would be higher than we are. I never believed that this team could finish higher than 12th to 15th, but did'nt think we would be just one place outside the relegation zone at this stage. Still confident that we will be playing in this division next season.

Bar and expectations set way too high. I think he's done an excellent job in the circumstances. Under Trollope we weren't even competing, we were going down like a lead balloon! Our squad was and is a total mess after Ole, Slade and Trollope while our pre season preparation was appalling. To get us out of the bottom 3, and competing again, in such a short space of time, with no transfer window, is solid work. For me, I just love going to game getting the buzz again, actually feeling like I've watched a game of football rather than watching paint dry. I can't believe people forget how quickly just how boring and catastrophic some of the football was under Trollope!

I think it just shows what utter shite he has inherited. He had had to work damn hard with the squad to form some sort of mentality and as we have seen in recent games conceeding at the death, there is still work to do.

However, the fact that we play entertaining football now, have more guts and get stuck in, dont play that stupid nonsense triangle passing game in midfield, and actually take teams on is so encouraging for me.

We went to Newcastle and competed for large periods, we went to Villa and really got at them, but for some more clinical finishing would have brought something back from there too. I thnk we have to look at the positives and the fact we are now a team with a bit of bottle. This will grow in time. No doubt a signing or 2 to match the quality of Bamba and Hoilett and we will be well clear.

Its a rebuilding year. We are back in blue, business wise being run more properly within our limits, a football manager at the helm, crowds coming back - fear not this will be a good year for us. And the Welsh Derby by October what more could we ask :)

Trollope ruined the squad and a team can only be as good as the sum of its parts, what's clear is Trollope didn't have the balls to say no to tan hence we lost both keepers and was scratching about looking a keeper and striker on deadline day, warnock has brought a bit of stabilization and once he gets his own squad we will rise up this league, need about 4-5 players tho
