Aston Villa's next opponents Cardiff City could benefit from extra rest after tonight's Championship fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion was called off.
Cardiff were due to play the table-topping Seagulls at the Amex Stadium this evening, but the match has been postponed.
"Tonight’s game against Brighton has been called off due to heavy fog and concerns over visibility," confirmed Cardiff's official Twitter account.
Neil Warnock's team have still had to travel to the south coast, but have avoided the exertions of Villa's battling 1-1 draw against Leeds United last night.
Cardiff and Villa will meet at Cardiff City Stadium at 3pm on Monday (January 2).
While Villa were in action last night, the Bluebirds last match was a Boxing Day draw at Brentford.
Jack Grealish is a doubt for Monday's match after limping out of the draw against Leeds with a dead leg.

Could say we have already benefited. Our goal difference has not got any worse.

Good game wasn't tomorrow at Brighton, as Villa would have big advantage with rest recovery time.

I watched the Villa v Leeds game on Sky. Defensively Villa were all over the place. I forecast a 4-1 win for City

I think we are benefiting from the fact that we now get to play the game after some new signings in January (hopefully)

All this sounds great in theory but it never seems to materialise in results on the pitch. As pointed out above the only positive is our goal difference hasn't got any worse (yet).
