" TONIGHT'S REFEREE EXPLAINS POSTPONEMENT "

Health and safety have been looking at the pitch since 5pm and the conditions have got worse in that hour and when we looked at the Met Office, it was going to get worse until around 8pm.

There’s a crowd issue as well, from various vantage points in the crowd, you would struggle to see. We’ve come to the decision that safety around the ground and in the ground is an issue.

It’s a very difficult decision because sometimes it can come and go but we’ve found it’s getting worse. We’ve taken into account Cardiff who have come a long distance and I’ve come from Manchester. We all want to play football but it’s not been possible today.

No one can blame the Ref and the right decision was made.

I just feel for the 600 City fans who travelled all that way for nothing.

Thankfully this hardly happens nowadays, years ago this would happen 4 or 5 times a season, from Darlington,Hartlepool, Rochdale,Huddersfield, Carlisle and Brighton etc got there and cancelled etc

Annis I remember driving from London to Cardiff for a game against Derby for it be called off as I was parking. Just part of football. Fortunately, as you say, it doesn't happen very often any more

Got to feel for the die hards who made the journey.

Hopefully those who are having an overnight stay can still have a good night on the tiles.

Just had a stop at Reading services on the way back. People on the coach are disappointed, but in fairly good humour. The fog was very bad. We can't have been far from the ground when it was called off. Been a while since such a late postponment.
