' BRIGHTON FANS VIEWS OF TONIGHTS GAME '

Opposition view: Brighton & Hove Albion Vs Cardiff City

By Callum Ellis

Friday 30th December 2016

We spoke to Brighton supporters Joe Sayers and Oakley Brown ahead of their clash with Cardiff City on Friday night.

Brighton head into the last game of 2016 having picked up 13 points from a possible 15 so far this month.

However, the only fixture which they failed to pick up maximum points from was against Friday night’s opponents, Cardiff City earlier this month.

The Bluebirds know they’ll face a tough test against Chris Hughton’s side but will be looking to pick up three points themselves, as they look to move up the table, further adrift of the relegation zone.

Joe Sayers and Oakley Brown gave us their view on Brighton’s season so far and their prediction for Friday’s game:

Brighton currently sit top of the Championship table, where do you see yourselves finishing this season?

Joe: I see us finishing in the top two for sure! Who knows where though? It could switch 20 times between us and Newcastle before the end of the season.

Oakley: For me, anywhere in the top four at the start of the season was good. Now, it’s a lot higher as we have seen of a lot of teams so far this season and we are very much looking the part. I do see Newcastle piping us to the title but a 2nd place finish is where I see us finishing.

Glenn Murray has 15 league goals to his name so far this season, how important has he been for you?

Joe: Murray has been vital to our larger score lines this season, and goal difference was our downfall last year. He could be the difference this year for us.

Oakley: He’s been very important – only needs one sniff at goal, just ask Birmingham fans that.

Despite Murray leading the goal scoring chart, who should Cardiff fans be wary of?

Joe: Anthony Knockaert. Your left-back will be lucky to go to sleep the night after facing him without any nightmares!

Oakley: The one every Cardiff fan will know and should worry about is Anthony Knockaert, our second top scorer this season. The lad for me the best player in the league (biased i know) but he just makes things happen like a real magician.

Dale Stephens and Sam Baldock are also ones to watch. However, not many strikers have got past Dunk and Duffy this season.

Manager Chris Hughton guided the club to a 3rd place finish last season, what has he done differently so far this campaign?

Joe: I don’t think he’s done anything different this year in terms of how he sets up the team. I think he’s stressed how important it is to take each game as it comes, and how important it is to kill games off.

Oakley: He added well in the summer well without spending a lot of money. Although we did bid £8.5million for Pritchard, we didn’t spend more than £4million on one player. But the most important thing he’s done is kept our best players, which was hard as they were very much sort after in the summer.

Brighton were held to a goalless draw at the Cardiff City Stadium earlier this month, how do you see this one panning out?

Joe: Our home form this year has been exceptional. Cardiff are a tough side to break down, as we experienced away from home, but I can see us being too strong for Cardiff at home. We should win comfortably.

Oakley: For me, there’s only one goal in this one, sorry Cardiff fans. It’s going to be us sneaking this one with a header from Dunk – a 1-0 win to the Albion.

If they sneak a 1 nil win I will take that, we are in for 2 massive tough games tonight and villa home without new signings , I am with Warnock just want these games done doing the best we can and get some new players in on getting us out of trouble.

I fear a 3-0 loss tonight I deeply hope I am wrong but in fairness they are the best team in the championship and hope they beat Newcastle as I like Chris Houghton and didn't like how Newcastle treated him

Agree if we get beat we need to keep the score down as our goal difference doesnt make good reading at the minute.

Our next four away after this are Wuezels, Reading, Leeds and Derby, the home games against Burton and Preston in January have the potential to be must win games.

0-0 against us at home and they are saying Cardiff are a tough side to break down :o .

Not the last 2 games we have not been.
