Swansea City line up move for former Cardiff City and Tottenham Hotspur defender Steven Caulker — reports

The defender, who had a successful loan spell with the Swans in 2011/12 could be on his way back to the Liberty Stadium

Swansea City may be managerless but that wont stop them luring their former defender Steven Caulker back to the Liberty Stadium, if reports are to be believed.

ESPN report that the club are lining up a move to bring Caulker — who also has arch rivals Cardiff City on his CV — back to South Wales.

Sources 'close to the Welsh club' have indicated that Caulker is on their radar in January.

With Bob Bradley sacked on Tuesday, Huw Jenkins is likely to be putting all of his energy into finding a replacement over the next few days.

But Caulker, 25, has seen his career stall since joining Queens Park Rangers in 2014 and could be primed for a move to the Premier League. He has spent time on loan with Liverpool and Southampton since switching to Loftus Road from Cardiff City.

Steven Caulker scored for Cardiff City against Swansea
Swansea have shipped 41 goals this season, more than any other Premier League defence. They conceded 29 in 10 games under Bradley.

The Swans appear to be badly missing former captain Ashley Williams, who joined Everton in the summer . It is thought Caulker would be an ideal replacement.

The 25-year-old has made 14 appearances for QPR so far this season and has one England cap to his name, which came while on loan at Swansea from Tottenham in 2012.

Poor defender at Premier League level. But great from set pieces.

Scored a few Premier League goals for us, and will never forget being there to see him score the winner against the Jacks.

It's his off-the-field antics that should worry any team that employs him ;)

A decent defender in readiness for The Championship but could have been so much better after showing such early promise; particularly during his previous spell with them

Well if he's going there they're down. He's been relegated more times with different teams than any other player in recent times, added to the fact he's really gone down hill in terms of ability.

Well he has moved on from getting relegate from the premier to championship. He is now going to get relegated from the hampionship to league 1 with QPR.
