How does Curtis always keep his job?

Wed Dec 28, 2016 6:32 pm

How many managers has he been No2 to,always keeps his job and normally takes the reigns until a new Manager comes in.
This rarely happens anywhere else as most managers want their own back room staff. If he is so good why don't he step up permanently?

Fair play, he's a decent guy and it's nice to see a club stand by someone like the jacks have with him.

That said, they're about to have their 7th manager in 6 seasons, and Curtis has been there for the clubs rise and fall. At this point, he SHOULD be taking some accountability for what has been happening on the pitch. That said, whilst his first stint last year didn't go great, when their boss had to go into hospital, Curtis did get them the wins that I felt kept Swansea up that year.

Yes I agree fair play but like I said most managers insist on their on backroom staff with most famously Jose not wanting Giggs!
Maybe he's the snitch that gets them sacked.

Hope they don't go for him and sack him !!!!!

He is the reason they stayed up last season.

I believe (i have Jack friends) he doesn't want the stress and loves the club and wouldn't want to be the manager to take them down.

Big Sam, Sir Tony of Nuport would be the answer although i wouldn't bet against Moyes being able to do the business either.

If they stay in the top flight, I'm sure they'll soon have a manager who will want shot of Curtis. You're right, eventually one has to look at this whole situation and conclude that Curtis' loyalty MUST be to the club and not to his manager, and were I that manager, I wouldn't trust him to be around me if I'm honest.

Similar to that chap Keith Millen(I think thats his name)at Palace.Always takes over when they sack a manager but stays as No 2.

He's never been a no 2 has he? Jenkins gave Bradley a no 2 as he actually been no 2 to anyone ? Guess he's just a background guy doing bits and pieces at club Until they need him to take over!

its a very good point you make about his loyalty being to the club more than the manager, but it has seemed to work for them for years. question would you have liked someone here who the whole club identifies with in the Curtis role?

He's a friendly guy, makes a nice cuppa, and is good at collecting the balls after training.

I think, after that many managers and continued decline in quality, I'd be wanting EVERYONE's position to be assessed, especially the man who is constantly seen talking tactics on the touch line with the managers. In this case, Curtis.

I assumed they kept him fir continuity sakes, always good to have someone like him who knows the club well around to help the new manager out. Not sure it's working so well now mind, he could also be Jenkins ears to the players, the board prob rely on him to give them the truth. Nice guy though, met him a number of times shopping in Cardiff. Always remind him of the best goal he ever scored at the vetch for CARDIFF CITY in 2988. He laughs too....secret bluebird :bluescarf:
