I wonder how Rudy's drinks business is going.
It still seems to be operating...and is 'cheaper than Red Bull'.

He was looking to get into nuts and cars...as described in this article from last year.

Rudy Gestede is confident Aston Villa will re-energise their season after a flat start to the Premier League campaign.
Gestede, who runs energy drink company No Limit, when he is not playing football admits the claret and blues need a boost.
.....
Gestede admits his business interests are a welcome distraction when things aren’t going well on the field.
“I like to have something other than football to keep my mind busy,” he said.
“I’m thinking about later in life too. Also sometimes when you have a bad game and feel down you need to think about something else.
“Having interests away from football can help to take your mind off things. I have football, I have my family and I have my business on the side.”

The 6ft 4ins Benin international set up the drinks firm with a friend, and is now considering branching out into nuts and cars with his brother.
“We had a friend who runs a compny in Luxembourg and he asked us if we wanted to help him launch the energy drink.
“So I used my background to help get it up and running and we had a photo shoot with Craig Bellamy and Bacary Sagna.

“It stared slowly in this country so we are concentrating on selling in Africa now as there aren’t as many energy drinks and our price is cheaper than Red Bull.

“My brother is in France and has another company but we are still doing a few things together. We are also looking at nuts and cars too.”

The guy can't get in the Villa side...so he's going from being a championship reserve to the premier league for 6.5million ???...there are some really strange transfers these days

Really don't get it. The guy is awful on the deck he's not PL standard IMO.

Had a good spell in a very direct Blackburn side in the Championship but I just don't see what qualities he brings to the Premier League table.

I'm also surprised at this. I can only think that these struggling PL sides are going to just aim to go direct for 20 minutes if they're chasing a game. I can't see Gestede starting many so he would be used as a sub.

Ironically, there is talk of Rhodes going the other way in a separate deal.

I'd be happy with both moves happening.

Some good news for you for Monday though-We could be short of strikers, with Kodjia and Ayew both going to the African cup of Nations. I think the Gestede deal will happen at the start of the window and even if we were to sign Rhodes in time, Monday would be too soon. It could be McCormack as a lone striker.
