Don't worry, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. They have an awful side and it isn't going to improve just because they have a new person telling them what to do.

Giggs I hear will be the new man.

John Hartson blames Swansea City owners for turmoil
Bob Bradley has been sacked by Swansea City.

Tuesday 27th December 2016

After just 86 days in the job, the former US national team boss was told he was being relieved of his duties on Tuesday evening after 24 hours of discussions over his future.

Alan Curtis has been placed in temporary charge – including for the New Year Eve Premier League clash with Bournemouth – as the club again consider their options as they face up to the on-the-field crisis they have become engulfed in.

The move came after Bradley suffered loud calls for his head during and after the 4-1 Boxing Day defeat to West Ham, the third heavy beating suffered by Swansea in the last four games and leaving his record as seven losses from his 11 games in charge.

And with relegation an increasingly likely scenario for the club and a clear loss of faith from fans, it prompted the club's board into action and saw the second sacking of the season at the Liberty.

Francesco Guidolin was axed in October after a poor start to the season and numerous issues around his methods, replaced by Bradley on the same time in a move that caught many by surprise but cited by chairman Huw Jenkins as a “long term appointment”.

But he was never able to silence critics who cited his lack of experience in European football at an elite level.

There had been an eagerness from the club's American majority shareholders, Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien, to give Bradley time after the 58-year-old's involvement in drawing up plans for the January transfer window, seen as key to any remaining hope of Swansea's top-flight survival this season.

But the manner of defeat to West Ham with even more defensive issues obvious – taking the tally conceded under Bradley to 29 in 11 games – saw frantic phonecalls between chairman Huw Jenkins and the US-based directors in the immediate hours after the final whistle with the manager's fate all but decided.

Discussions continued into the night before a final decision was taken on Tuesday afternoon, with Bradley informed later in the day.

Bradley had admitted his future was likely to be subject of conversation between directors as he faced questions over his role after the West Ham loss, though had stated he would not quit despite the vocal demands for him to go.

Curtis, who had served as first team coach under Bradley, will step into the caretaker role he occupied last season before the arrival of Guidolin. He is likely to be assisted by Paul Williams, the former England Under 20 coach who was named as Bradley's No.2 last month. The future of another of Bradley's staff, fitness chief Pierre Barrieu, is unclear.

Swansea are currently 19 in the Premier League, above bottom-placed Hull on goal difference, and four points from safety. They face 17th-placed Crystal Palace on January 3 after the visit of Bournemouth.

Send for Big Sam...oh hang on a minute, he's got a new job. Pards would be fun, but if it's Giggsy, that will be entertaining too - but maybe they don't match his ambition. I wonder if Ole is tempted.

Bob Bradley: Swansea City sack American manager

BBC

Bob Bradley led his native United States to the 2009 Confederations Cup final in South Africa

Swansea City have sacked Bob Bradley after only 85 days in charge of the Premier League club.

The 4-1 home defeat by West Ham on Boxing Day left Swansea four points adrift of safety in the Premier League.

It was their seventh loss in 11 games since Bradley became the first American boss in the top flight after replacing Francesco Guidolin on 3 October.

Chairman Huw Jenkins said: "We felt we had to make the change with half the Premier League season remaining."

Jenkins added: "With the club going through such a tough time, we have to try and find the answers to get ourselves out of trouble.

"Personally, I have nothing but praise for Bob. He is a good man; a good person who gave everything to the job. His work-rate is phenomenal and we wish him well for the future.''

He managed USA, Egypt and Stabaek in Norway before leaving Le Havre to succeed January appointment Guidolin.

The club tweeted: "Swansea City can confirm that the club has parted company with manager Bob Bradley."

At the time of Bradley's arrival, Swansea were above the relegation zone only on goal difference.

Current staff members Alan Curtis and Paul Williams will take temporary charge, starting with Swansea's New Year's Eve home game against Bournemouth.

For once Huw I think you'll find most Cardiff City supporters would agree with your words  BB did a great job and I really hope some how he is rewarded for his phenomenal work rate in laying the foundations for Swansea City's relegation from the PL. :occasion5:

Gutted! I loved Bob! :(

Re: ' PREMIER LEAGUE MANAGER SACKED/GUESS WHO? '

The only thing that would cheer me up now would be if they got a trades person like a painter and decorator to run the club to save some money! Obviously no owner in their right mind would allow that though would they! :?

Do you think the Americans would get some right numpty in to deliberately finish them off? Surely they must be just trying to make it look good?

Is Ole looking for a job, it would be tempting for him as even he couldn't make things any worse! He might even do it for free! :occasion5:

They will stay up? What do you base this on? Their defence is currently woeful. They are conceding goals at an alarming rate.

It looks like their will be very little to spend In January to improve the defence.

The footballing world knows their is a lot of discontent at the club right now and have been in the relegation spots for 90% of the season so what manager of any.merit would want to take them on?

so I'm struggling with your "they will stay up"

I think they will make a better appointment and improve. Why do you assume they have very little to spend in January? They don't have debt and with the PL money and their transfer dealings over the past few seasons they must have plenty of funds available. All they need is the guts to spend it.

It's well known they have little in the bank and accusations of the yanks asset stripping to cover their purchase costs.

Their last two seasons have shown the club carrying debt so where do you get your information from?? Huw even put out a press statement about the debt showing on their accounts.

I can't see any decent manager risking Swansea as an option without a big purse put in front of him something they don't have.
