I don't understand why people give Rooney such a hard time. He's a professional footballer not a brain surgeon who if it wasn't for football would probably struggle to get a job. He was given the night off when he had a drink at the wedding party and was injured for the following game. There are plenty of stories about Bobby Moore and he didn't have to deal with the media,the way it is now.

Perhaps he stole that diamond bracelet cos he was only on 12 quid a week?

I find it surprising that Moore was only on £12 a week as England captain when Johnny Haynes was on a £100 a week after threat of a strike in 1961.

I read an article by Niall Quinn last week and players relationship with journalists was a lot different back then. They would drink with them and class them as friends. That's how they got their info. Not the case these days where they just make things up on the basis mud sticks as long as it sells their story.
