Transfer news: Marcus Bettinelli from Fulham to Cardiff City? Here's the inside word
Whites £2 million rated keeper is going to have to wait for his chance at Craven Cottage
Friday 23rd December 2016
BY PAUL WARBURTON
Fulham have made it plain Marcus Bettinelli is going nowhere - not least Cardiff City - unless they have a replacement in place and around £2 million for the talented keeper.
GetWestLondon has learned Whites will fight tooth and nail to keep the custodian, linked with a move to the Welsh capital and ex- QPR boss Neil Warnock.
Bettinelli broke back into the Whites set-up with a bang last term, after recovering from a crushing injury at the start of the season, and was even wanted by neighbours Chelsea.
However, Whites made sure they tied the 24-year-old to a new four-year deal in August 2015 that scared off any prospective poachers.
After another niggle at the start of this season, Bettinelli has yet to dislodge new man David Button and is chaffing at the bit for regular football.
He will have to bide his time, as boss Slavisa Jokanovic insists he needs two top players for every position.

£2.5million, +£1.5m if they stay up (unlikely) +£1m if he makes a certain number of appearances (could soon be out of favour)
So basically there's a decent chance we've sold him for £2.5 million

It would be madness if we bought him for that after what happened with David Marshall.

David Marshall 4 years left
Marcus Bettinelli 11 years years
You are paying for sell on value, Marshall won't have any

We need a proven GK and getting Marshall back just makes sense. He must be hating it at Hull and I honestly don't think he really wanted to leave us. He'd make an instant impact as we've gone backwards since his departure. Go on NW, you know it makes sense.

Totally agree and I bet Marshall would be over the moon to come back. Should be on Warnocks wish list I would have thought along with a proven goalscorer.

Cardiff will see it as good business as usual .
As everyone says if this happens for the fee mentioned its a joke to get rid of Marshall and we've gone down hill in the goal keeping department since he was sold should of kept him
