Is the Premier League right for Cardiff City ?

Thu Dec 22, 2016 5:00 pm

Just asking but is the Premier League the be all and end all ?

It's easy for me to say that as I don't go anymore but I'm interested in other views as once there it takes a big percentage of the income on greedy players and agents.
Personally I'd rather the Championship as at least City can compete

I think it is, there is no point in Football if the objective is not to be play at the highest level possible in your system.

Top answer.

People say they prefer Cardiff City to play in the Championship are idiots, I want the City to win every game and play at the highest level. I want to watch the best players week in, week out. The Premier League is not the all end all of following a team but it's where you want you club to realistically be.

Yes I see that point, but I feel it takes something away and it don't feel like the same club.

I always wanted the PL but even though I walked away due to the rebrand, I had no feeling to attend the games against the big clubs

The only way around that is to have a small capacity stadium.look at Leeds Sheff wed etc .well supported now but get to premier league they will sprout an extra 10 to 15 thousand fans .ourselves likewise.

The Premiere League is where every player, manager, owner, supporter and everyone associated with our club should want to be.But as we all know to well The Club should be ready, willing and all pulling in the same direction which of course was way off the mark last time!

a simple answer but spot on. there would be little point if the objective every year was to finish 7th

Premier league is a strange league ruled by cash. There are 8-10 big global clubs then the rest are made up of whoever, a club with a good manager, whatever, look at Bournemouth, Swansea, Watford, hull, stoke, Burnley, all clubs that have been in league 1 recently. The championship is full of decent clubs that can beat each other anytime, some big historical clubs like Leeds, forest, Wednesday etc...then you villa, Newcastle, Sunderland every now and then. It's far more us, than the premier league.

I want to see my club back in the Premier League but this time without all the off the field shennanigans and chaos that killed us last time. It was probably my least enjoyable season for many years watching City, but it did provide one unforgettable day when we beat Man City which will stay with me forever. Onwards and upwards Bluebirds!

Some "glory hunters" can become committed fans though. We are all aware of city because we are fans and actively expose ourselves to the whole soap opera. There are many many more out there that have never considered supporting any football side regularly let alone Cardiff. However one day a big game comes along and it suddenly peaks their interest to come along. From then on they can be committed. We all find our own ways here but the likelihood of them coming to a meaningless mickey mouse cup match played but reserve players is rather slim!

Both absolutely spot on, whatever you want to do in life surely you strive and want to achieve the best you can. This is why the dream goes on.

If teams like C Palace, Watford, Bournemouth, Middlesbrough, Jack B's and Leicester can survive and thrive in the PL then why the hell can't the Capital City of Wales side do the same?

To say you don't want to emulate those clubs is to say they are bigger clubs than we are. I don't accept that for one minute and in the PL we would get bigger crowds than all of the above.

Your personal choice is yours but IMO anyone still sulking over the rebrand is simply looking for an excuse to justify not attending. Get over it and get back down CCS.

Actually I have no problem with so called 'glory hunters'. Mind you they did piss me off when tickets were allocated for some of the Wembley finals and they moaned about season ticket holders getting more than one ticket.

Apparently due to their unsubstantiated claims that they were diehard fans some years earlier their logic was they had a better claim to those extra tickets than a season ticket holders mate.

That apart if someone only wants to turn up when we are successful then that's their choice, but they have no automatic right to tickets.

I am not sulking over the rebrand for sure as I have lost the passion I had. I broke the cycle.

In fact I have to say that VT took away my football at the time but now he is doing things for the good of the club and ensuring there will be a Cardiff City in the future. I can only applaud him now

Don't see any millionaires wanting to buy us? It's easy to get a new manager or players but a new owner?
