Cardiff City boss reveals he's already agreed deal for striker but rules out Speroni move

Neil Warnock has said he hopes to bring in four players in January, and that he already has a deal in place for a young striker.

However, Warnock poured cold water on suggestions that he would be making a move for Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni.

Warnock said: " I've agreed to make one signing already, a young lad who I've been looking at over the last few months. I'm hoping from January 1 we'll be signing him, but that's not official yet so I can't make any comment yet.

"He's a young striker that we've been looking at. I just thought I'd drop that in so you can speculate, then you might come up with someone who I'd forgotten about and I can have a look at them!

Warnock added that he expects Speroni to finish his career at Crystal Palace. Speroni is currently third choice at Selhurst Park.

He looks sharp as a razor that lad and he's athletic, if it is Moult then we need to be crossing balls into the box like it's going out of fashion cause he will get on the end of them

I was thinking of the same player mate. The last couple of seasons he has scored a decent few goals and I think due to his young age, it could be a really good move for him and us. Yes, he is unproven at this level, but at least he is scoring goals in the Professional leagues. I think with Neil Warnock and his backroom staff working daily with him, he would only get better as a result. I think we could get him for under £500,000 and if we did I think it would be a gamble worth taking. If we did sign Bogle or Akpom or another young forward. We would still need to sign at least one more proven striker. Especially one who can score plenty of goals at Championship level.

We must inject more pace into the side in the 2nd half of the season, in numerous positions. So hopefully Neil Warnock will only bring in players that possess loads of pace.

Also, I do like the fact that Hearts' right back Calum Paterson (sp?) is being linked with us. He has a lot of pace, is great going forward and he can defend too. He has a great future ahead of him and hopefully that future will be with us. I would be very happy with Bogle and Paterson being the first and second new players to sign for us to start with. Then if we can add another 3 more players, I would be extremely happy with the squad for the rest of the season. I just can't see us getting relegated this season, not with Neil Warnock in charge. Not even if we fail to sign a proven goalscorer.
