BREAKING: Cardiff City agree deal for striker

Big news from Neil Warnock...

Neil Warnock: I’ve agreed to make one signing already, a young lad who I’ve been looking at over the last few months. I’m hoping from January 1st we’ll be signing him, but that’s not official yet so I can’t make any comment yet. He’s a young striker that we’ve been looking at. I just thought I’d drop that in so you can speculate, then you might come up with someone who I’d forgotten about and I can have a look at them! It’s difficult with it being Wales, if they’re English you’ve got to get international clearance for them, then clearance from Wales, and it’s January 1st which isn’t going to be easy. I just hope the people in those departments are Cardiff City fans.

Will Cardiff be selling their high earners?

Neil warnock:
"I don’t know what I’m going to do, you don’t know what will happen with the next phone call. I want to generate money, the ones I want to leave might have no takers. It’s one of those things, you just don’t really know.
Everything is up in the air, but I’d like to bring at least four in if I can. I’d like different options, first and foremost one clean sheet is not acceptable"

Is Julian Speroni a target?


Neil Warnock: I’ve got two more weeks before the window opens. I’ll have to ask the recruitment guys where these names are coming from! I know Julian ever so well, he’s a smashing lad, but he’ll be at Crystal Palace for the rest of his career .He’ll not leave."

Neil Warnock: "Pilkington has had a back spasm, he should be OK though. Jazz Richards is training tomorrow, hopefully he’ll finish the session! That’s been a difficult period for everyone concerned. I’ve had lads recover from a broken leg quicker!"

Sol Bamba receives one extra game ban

Warnock reveals Sol Bamba’s personal hearing has been held and he has just received one extra game. It means he misses the Boxing Day clash against Brentford but will be available after that.

What about Kenneth Zohore's future?

Neil Warnock: "He’s done ever so well, there’s no reason why he can’t keep that up, hopefully the penny has dropped. I was just going to let him go to Belgium or something to be honest, but he’s had a great appetite for it and shown me what he can do."


"It’s the contribution he’s given. I would like another striker if one of my targets became available but I might not."

Neil Warnock "It needs streamlining everywhere, we’ve started with the U23’s and there are other aspects I’d like to streamline."

Cardiff City boss reveals he's already agreed deal for striker but rules out Speroni move

Neil Warnock has said he hopes to bring in four players in January, and that he already has a deal in place for a young striker.

However, Warnock poured cold water on suggestions that he would be making a move for Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni.

Warnock said: " I've agreed to make one signing already, a young lad who I've been looking at over the last few months. I'm hoping from January 1 we'll be signing him, but that's not official yet so I can't make any comment yet.

"He's a young striker that we've been looking at. I just thought I'd drop that in so you can speculate, then you might come up with someone who I'd forgotten about and I can have a look at them!

Warnock added that he expects Speroni to finish his career at Crystal Palace. Speroni is currently third choice at Selhurst Park.
