" STRIKER FOR CARDIFF CITY/ BUT IS £1MILL TO MUCH? "

MATTY TAYLOR PROLIFIC STRIKER IN LOWER LEAGUES/ CAN LEAVE BRISTOL ROVERS FOR £1MILL

But not only can City afford him? Many other Championship clubs want him.

One whispered about for quite some time as the potential 'next Jamie Vardy', Taylor has been prolific for Bristol Rovers after working his way up from non-league football.

Most importantly, he has stepped up to League One with supreme ease this season and it has suggested he could do the same again in the Championship, seemingly having that natural knack for goals.

The Bristol Rovers Chairman was insistent that he would not be sold in January but crucially would not deny reports that he has a £1 million release clause in his contract. Someone is likely to take a punt if that is the case, particular given he is still only 25 and has significant sell-on value. That's a price range that Cardiff may well have a chance of operating in.

Competition would be so stiff, however, with Wolves, Brighton, Rangers and QPR all credited with an interest. Taylor himself turned down the chance to leave the Pirates only last summer.

A bargain providing he is capable of operating at a higher level. Would be a gamble though. As we know, being able to score in the lower leagues is different to being able to score at this level. Doyle can tell us that. Does this club have the funds to risk a million at this particular time given our league position. We already have one striker who we know will not be a prolific scorer any more for a variety of reasons, can we afford to take another risk? Not sure myself, but one thing I do know is that Warnock knows a lot more than me and I am confident he will know a good signing when he sees one.

Crystal ball please, sometimes you can't tell. From what I heard it's worth a punt.

Yes a lot of faith being put in Warnock and rightly so when you look at his record. However this is the first time Neil has been asked to work at risk. His time at QPR he had an open cheque book if you can remember one of those. At Rotherham he did not have one but he had no transfer window to work in. I don't recall him bring at a club where he needed to refurbish the house with a limited budget. His record with us is 50/50 so far.

Good post, and this day and age 1m is worth the risk. Top strikers are fortunes, you go lower division or a Prem kid. These are your options.

And sometimes you've got to take a punt on a player but right now in our position I would rather try to secure a loan for someone like Campbell who's more guaranteed to score at championship level.
Ideally we go go in for both, if Warnock fancies him, and bed him in slowly.

Love to see Campbell as he's exactly what we need off the new zohore ( still can't believe am saying that ) Taylor for a million is also worth a punt.

I can remember seeing him at Forest Green a few years ago and was impressed with him then. Good movement, nice first touch and comfortable in front of goal. He's got a good record at Bristol rovers aswell but obviously the big question is can he do it at championship level .

We have paid a lot more for failures or for players that do not work out but this day and age in football for a young striker
1 million is a bargain

Could be another Jordan Rhodes or another Eoin Doyle.

£1 million sounds about right in today's football market. Any cheaper than that and many will see Rovers as selling him on the cheap.

Worth a gamble in my eyes. Can't see his wages being astronomical. :ayatollah:

Where you gonna get a striker from that scores goals for any less money .not played at this level but for a striker in relative terms its cheap .unless you pay 10 mill and up its a gamble look at Swansea they payed millions and he's not even starting .it's either this way or the loan way you have to be lucky then too there players often on the fridges for a reason.
Warnock will no what he wants in different departments and i trust his judgement.
Ole slade and Trollope I didn't have much faith but in Warnock I am confident we have a very good manager it's just weather city have the money and we keep going on about financial rules which confuse me.
Warnock will bring a common sense which has been lacking for years at city are transfer policy ins and out has been pethetic to say the least.
In Warnock being here I'm confident :bluescarf:

Surely we have to sign a striker who can score some time? Surely?

Just by law of averages alone!

There is a very fine line between a striker who will score 20 and sneak us into the play offs and a crocked 30 something year old who will play 3 times and never score. We been walking that tight rope for about 5 years.

Yeah but that's the problem isn't it, we're in a position where we can't afford to take risks. This next transfer window needs to come up with players who are guna make a difference or were not guna pull any further away from the bottom three.
