' Cardiff City and Preston North End After Defender '

Cardiff City and Preston North End are amongst the Football League clubs tracking Barrow defender Moussa Diarra, HITC reports sources close to the Non-League side as indicating.

Having joined Barrow in the summer from Hampton and Richmond Borough, Diarra has become an instant success at his new side as he’s helped the club go on a run of 25 games unbeaten in all competitions- with the minnows securing themselves a place in the third-round of the FA Cup.

Currently sat fifth in the Conference table, towering centre-back Diarra has helped Barrow in their push for promotion to the Football League and his performances have not gone unnoticed by clubs higher up in the English Football League pyramid.

Formerly a youth player with Paris Saint-Germain, Diarra has attracted the interest of three Championship clubs, Cardiff, Preston and Rotherham, whilst League Two outfit Blackpool are also keeping tabs on the giant defender.

Barrow are determined to keep hold of their star-man but are aware that could be a difficult challenge for them in the New Year, as the prospect of rising up the divisions may be too good an opportunity for the 26-year-old.

Plus Warnock wants Bruno Manga to stay, but has been told by the so called Cardiff City committee, that Manga has to go as we are skint,so out of Warnocks hands.

Hmmmmmm

Don't be silly annis
If we signed this guy it would be a warnock signing no one else's
So if manga goes and he comes in he would be warnocks choice as a replacement ,and if that happens ,I'm confident that he will be good enough

Saw Barrow at Taunton in the cup last month - they conceded twice and were lucky to escape with a 2-2 draw. None of their defenders stood out that day and I presume this guy would have played. :?

How can we be skint?. Our owners a billionaire. Surely we only have to sell manga to comply with ffp rules?.

Paul,
Warnock has been told to sell Manga, that is not his choice :thumbright:

As to the this Defender I honestly have NO idea, but I would not want him, thats my opinion.

If we get him,it will be Warnocks choice :thumbright:

I have no doubt that NW has been told by the club to sell Magna and the reason as we all know is FFP. There is only so much of the cake to share around and Magna's wages are taking up too much of that cake.

Personally I would like Magna to stay but fully understand the reason why he has to go.

Our owner is not skint that's true but CCFC doesn't have exclusive rights on his fortune. In any case the days of rich owners bank rolling clubs (and stacking them with debt) are well and truly over as FFP has seen to that and frankly we should be thankful that is the case.

Tony regarding the FFP? it seems the FFP comes up when it suits City?

One minute we have to sell sell sell, high wages, then we bring in freebies on high wages? ?

Judging by a thread on a Barrow FC forum - they rate him at LG1 standard at a push but not Championship.

But that's just a strange thing to say. This time last year we were placed under a transfer embargo, FACT.

The club didn't use FFP "when it suits", they had no choice in the matter. Truth be told we would have suffered the same fate the previous year if we hadn't loaned out KJ and Connolly to save those wages.

It's pretty simple. Warnock has been clear in mentioning FFP previously. He knows that Manga is too expensive for us and getting rid of that wage (plus a small transfer fee maybe) would create enough flexibility to sign 2/3 good players at this level.

For all we know VT may well recognise that Warnock is a better operator than many of his predecessors in the transfer market and want to give him £10m to spend (unlikely I know !!). But even if he does, that won't get around the FFP regime, we're probably in an even more vulnerable position right now because of the smaller crowds, therefore lower income, therefore wages/fees against turnover is worse. Newcastle, Derby, Leeds, etc have much bigger incomes therefore more to spend.

Let's get real, we are still suffering due to big mistakes made by the current regime and previous managers. But accusing the club of using FFP as an excuse is pretty unfair, not to mention inaccurate.

And the club stated it was a mistake, due to a wording and had it eventually lifted.

I agree we are still suffering due to bad management and our current owners.

I never used the FFP as an excuse,Tony did and out club.

We were supposedly totally skint, yet are paying massive wages to some of Trollope's players,Lambert,Bennett etc
And now to warlocks, which I have No problem with,I'm just saying the FFP seems to be used when we need to get rid of players a fact? ? ?

Re: ' Cardiff City and Preston North End After Defender '

The club claimed the embargo was a mistake and disputed it but I'm not aware that the league ever agreed with that and thought the embargo was lifted at the end of the season as a result of the pretty drastic cost cutting that went on.

The latest set of accounts were pretty encouraging so I'd suggest we on our way out of the woods but need to be very careful/clever over the next few months.

I actually played with the moooooose for Hemel Hempstead Town and Hampton & Richmond Borough.
He scored 14 goals last season from centre half - the guy is 6ft 8 and an absolute threat from set peices!

He actually started his career and was a first year pro at PSG, but was involved in a horrific car crash, braking both his legs, so was released by PSG at the end of his contract. His face still bears the scars.

He's good with his feet too, and quick across the ground. Trust in Neil, I think this would be a shrewd piece of business - We all knew he was destined to play professional football...
