Is Manga a Defender?

Tue Dec 20, 2016 9:54 pm

I thought he was fantastic against wolves last week, especially when he hasn't played. Prior to this and including last season, he would often show is class on the ball, good feet and balance together with his pace. But often he would switch off or get caught out and we would concede. Lots of fingers were pointed at our defence Saturday, but yet again manga is not mentioned in this.

My question is, do you think centre back is his position? These days it's fashionable to have a ball playing centre back but personally I like a defender who can defend. Like sol bamba.

Opinions?

nope i think he would be a better midfielder myself and have thought it almost from his first game. as for switching off,he does but if Leeds fans are to be believed we have some of that coming our way with Bamba

But what championship defenders don't switch off very occasionally or make the odd mistake? Morrison does, Bamba does - virtually everyone does otherwise they'd be playing for a top four team. I remember when he was playing regularly, he won MOM almost every game for us.

With regards to midfield, I could see Manga slotting in a deep position there quite nicely but I think he'll be on his way in January. Hope I'm wrong because he's a class player and I love watching him play and believe he's the type of player we need if we are going to try to push on for the play offs next season.

Trollope reckoned he was a striker! :o

If we hadn't got rid of Trollope I reckon we'd be almost down by now.

I'd say even Gabbs had a tendency to lose focus in a match now and then and I think this is why he never made it at the very highest level - he had all of the other attributes to be play for a top. top side and be as well regarded as someone like Rio Ferdinand if he had just a slightly better concentration level in my opinion. :ayatollah:
