Why did they ignore instructions??? What do you think Warnock should do about it?
Warnock Promises Changes
Manager Neil Warnock gave his thoughts following the weekend's defeat to Barnsley and with the defensive performance on the day he promised changes moving forward.
Hosting Paul Heckingbottom's side at the Cardiff City Stadium for the final action ahead of Christmas Day, Cardiff went down four three in a seven goal thriller but the frightening thing for Warnock was our defending on the day and he wasn't going to tolerate it.
Speaking to Wales Online in his post game press conference, a furious Warnock slammed the defensive showing on the day and promised fans that changes would be made for the Boxing Day encounter with Brentford.
Warnock also more than intimated that defensively players had simply ignored their instructions and that riled him up even more it seems.'It was exciting for the neutral, wasn't it? How not to defend! I was pleased with the way they came back but I'm disappointed with every goal, our own fault, elementary errors. I've persevered for a few weeks now but I've got to make changes now, I've had enough.'
Warnock went on to say.
'When I look at the goals I have to be critical. We were caught twice, because people who were told where they should be stood, an elementary thing, decided to do what they wanted to do. So we were caught on two goals by two lads who decided to do their own thing. It shouldn't happen it's disappointing. There were other errors along the way, I don't want to name individuals other than to say that I'll change it for the next game and January can't come soon enough.'
The more pleasurable aspects of the day came from our attacking and the gaffer acknowledged that but with that said he wasn't much pleased with our finishing on the day either despite scoring three.
'I thought we played some good stuff, we should have won it. We made them look like Real Madrid for 15 minutes in the first half. Overall we had some cracking chances, their keeper should be man of the match. There were some plusses today, at 2-1 it was a certain handball. If they'd had our chances they'd have beaten us by nine. Our chances, dear me, they take some missing, I'm really disappointed. They weren't 50-50, they were just tap ins.'
The defeat leaves the club sitting in 20th place only three points ahead of the relegation zone and the gaffer also said that he would be looking for two or three players in the January window, but before he can deal he might have to shift a few more out.
In an attacking sense though he did talk about his pleasure at Kenneth Zohore's performances and should that continue he might spend funds elsewhere.
'I want someone like Kenny Zohore that can go beyond, be strong, flick it on here and there, has got an eye for goal. I wish some of the chances had fallen to him. He`s come out of the blue really. If we hadn`t been so bad in the first half the other night, we probably would never have known about Kenneth. I`m lucky aren`t I? I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now. He`s been super. That`s two games now. He was treading water at the end but I didn`t want to take him off. Now he`s got a couple of days on his ice packs and stuff, he can start training again on Tuesday/Wednesday because he`s got to start lasting 90 minutes.'
Warnock added about the player.
'He`s been a massive plus for us because I`m looking to spend decent money on a striker in January, and I can`t buy anybody better than him at the minute. He`ll get better when he gets fitter. He knows now that he can do that every week, and that`s what you need from a striker. He`s not the problem. I have to solve the other problems. If he continues like that, that`s one and a half games where he`s done really well, caused a lot of problems and we`ve created a lot of chances from him. I`m delighted with him.'
