Warnock Plans In Place For January
Manager Neil Warnock has said that Cardiff City do have plans in place to strengthen the squad in the January window.
Having spoken about his delight at seeing Kenneth Zohore continue to shine in the first team fold, despite the fact he's not 100% fit yet in terms of the rigours of Championship football and the schedule, Warnock told Wales Online that should the player continue to perform and have the impact he has done - plus adding some goals to his game on a regular basis - then he'll shelve his plans for the striker in the January window, and use that money elsewhere on the squad.
Speaking about Zohore in his post game press conference following four three defeat to Barnsley at the weekend, he explained.
'I want someone like Kenny Zohore that can go beyond, be strong, flick it on here and there, has got an eye for goal. I wish some of the chances had fallen to him. He`s come out of the blue really. If we hadn`t been so bad in the first half the other night, we probably would never have known about Kenneth. I`m lucky aren`t I? I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now. He`s been super. That`s two games now. He was treading water at the end but I didn`t want to take him off. Now he`s got a couple of days on his ice packs and stuff, he can start training again on Tuesday/Wednesday because he`s got to start lasting 90 minutes.'
Warnock added initially.
'He`s been a massive plus for us because I`m looking to spend decent money on a striker in January, and I can`t buy anybody better than him at the minute. He`ll get better when he gets fitter. He knows now that he can do that every week, and that`s what you need from a striker. He`s not the problem. I have to solve the other problems. If he continues like that, that`s one and a half games where he`s done really well, caused a lot of problems and we`ve created a lot of chances from him. I`m delighted with him.'
With changes promised following the defensive showing against Barnsley and a quick crack that the January window couldn't come quick enough, if Warnock is happy to save his striker money and use it elsewhere he'll more than consider that a bonus, and he also confirmed that plans on targets were well underway and that he'd already had chats with Mehmet Dalman and Ken Choo over budgets and people he wants to target - but given Zohore the centre forward chats have somewhat stalled.
He also confirmed the possibility that he would need to move one or two on to help on a budget front.
'I`ve talked to Mehmet and he`s talked to Vincent, and we know what we`re looking for. I won`t spend silly. If Kenneth can carry on like this, I`ll be delighted to have him on board, then we can spend the money elsewhere. I`ve still got to generate money as well. He`s what I`ve been looking for all along and he`s just come out of the woodwork. I can`t be more pleased with him. He`s been a little bit lazy since I`ve been at the club but, at half-time the other night, he showed what he could do. He`ll get fitter now so he`s a big plus for us. A few minuses I`ll have to deal with over the next nine days.'

He does have a point about strikers ! After all we have only failed twice to score, so maybe that money could be better used ?
