Pet Hates on the road!

Mon Dec 19, 2016 11:51 pm

What really grinds your gears when driving? I have driven up and down the M4 from the valleys to London and back, and the M5 to Gloucester over the years. Some of the things I have seen are unbelievable

Anyway, here are a few of my pet hates on the road, mostly on local roads around town:

People that do not indicate at roundabouts when turning right

Cyclists who ride side by side chatting to each other, completely oblivious to the queue of traffic building up behind them unable to overtake.

Getting stuck behind b*stard caravans. Fooking hate them with a vengeance !

People who's headlights that are blindingly bright

And one of the most dangerous - people driving while using mobile b*stard phones

Come on - tell us your pet hates on the road, there must be loads :happy1:

i know mate, you get stuck in traffic doing 10mph then half an hour later figure its not road works or some unlucky bugger broken down or in a crash but 20 or so multi coloured dickturds to old to pedal up a hill..

What about people who indicate right on mini roundabouts to go straight on! What the hell is that all about!

People who sit in the middle lane on motorways at 60mph!

People who slow down or stop on roundabouts or junctions when you can clearly see there is absolutely nothing coming anywhere in sight! I mean thats not even overcautious thats just plain stupid!

People on phones!

People aproaching roundabouts stupid fast that force you to do an emergency stop!

Cars that block cycle lanes

Cars that just dont see bikes even though your lit up like a fr&&ing Christmas tree!

Teenagers in general! (Ok one or two can probably drive like they are not invincible!)

People who just like to beep their horns in their safe metal boxe's then sh&t when you retaliate!

Ignorant drivers that dont let you out!

Buses!

1. There are parked cars on your side of the road so you have to use the opposite lane. It's safe to do so, when some prick comes the other way, doesn't slow down and forces you to try and avoid him. The attitude being... it my lane. My right of way!

2. Bastards that stop in front of you at a t-junction blocking you in when you're trying to get out.

3. Cyclists. Full stop. Especially when the fookers hold you up, then jump onto the pavement at a red traffic light and continue.

4. Rear fogs left on blinding you in traffic when it's just slightly misty and you can still see for 1000 yards.

5. Pensioners that drive to get the paper during morning rush hour. You have all fooking day!!!!

And worst of all... you're trying to get to work on time. It's a country road. Visibility is good. Weather conditions good. Yet each morning you get stuck behind some tw*t doing 35 in a 60 mph speed limit. Braking for every bend. Huge long line of cars tailed back behind. You then enter a 30 mph zone and they stay at the same speed!!!

Re: Pet Hates on the road!

Tue Dec 20, 2016 5:30 am

1.The older generation that don't indicatecat junctions then just slam their breaks on last minute and turn off.

2.people who drive 20 in a 30 zone or 30 in a 40 zone etc. I know speed limits are there for a reason but at least do the speed limit.

Re: Pet Hates on the road!

People who rigidly stick to the middle lane on a motorway.it seems so many are terrified of the left hand lane these days.

Re: Pet Hates on the road!

Tue Dec 20, 2016 7:33 am

People who jump in to your braking distance gap on a motorway after under taking you when you are doing 70+
Causing you to brake sharp and the cars behind also, then they are up the tailpipe of the car that was in front of you tying to force them to move lanes "twats"

Re: Pet Hates on the road!

Tue Dec 20, 2016 8:48 am

People who when coming up to a roundabout that is empty stop to wait for non existing traffic !!
Speeding up to go past you on motorway and then use slip Rd! When easier to slow down and go behind you. :old:

Re: Pet Hates on the road!

Tue Dec 20, 2016 8:57 am

People up your ass in the dark with massively night lights when your doing 30 in a highly populated residential area ... Cunts

99% of BMW drivers ... Assholes in general

People who force you into a parked car when you can get two Sherman tanks through the gap

Re: Pet Hates on the road!

Tue Dec 20, 2016 8:59 am

Cyclists who are holding you up when there is a cycle path they SHOULD be using Grrrrr boils my piss

Re: Pet Hates on the road!

Tue Dec 20, 2016 9:00 am

fog lights - front and rear. Turn them off you total blends it doesn't help visibility it just dazzles everyone.

People who don't understand that you only giveway to the right at roundabouts. The number of mexican standoffs I've had lately with some clueless tit stopped to my right.

Car drivers that don't understand that filtering on a motorbike is a. legal b. beneficial to traffic flow.

Car drivers parking/ abandoning their cars on pavements, blind bends, wherever they fancy. They then complain that there's nowhere to park. Sorry but driving is a privilege not a human right. Fecking walk a bit you lazy tw@.

Re: Pet Hates on the road!

Tue Dec 20, 2016 9:38 am

People who don't put their lights on or only put their side lights on when it's dark or raining heavily. Most of the time it's teenage girls or old guys.who are probably saving 10 pence a year,by not doing so. Those who drive with day lights on in the night. It should be an offence not to put lights in bad weather conditions

Too right!

About cyclists- It takes me 15 minutes to get to work on a bike and 45 in a car! Plus a bike is virtualy free to use, good for the environment and helps keep you fit! I can actually run to work 5 minutes faster than it takes in a car so why waste my time and money!

I actually slow down or get off and push my bike through junctions and lights. Statistically thats where 90% of acidents happen, mainly because car driver's haven't got good enough perception to notice bikes even though I am covered in luminous yellow and lights or they are too busy on their phones! :santa:

You are very much in minority when it comes to traffic lights & junctions! Vast majority of cyclists ignore lights and right of way on road,

Re: Pet Hates on the road!

Bloody cyclists the worst, like someone else said the wannabe Bradley Wiggins jerks. Ffs chatting away riding side by side holding up a whole queue of traffic behind; that's an accident waiting to happen. What planet are they on? They obviously do it just to wind other road users up. There's no need for it. Anyway, I always thought the Cycling Proficiency Code recommends cycling in single file! Common f*cking sense really, it's a pity our police don't take more interest in it.

My other beef (before I cool off with a pint) is earlier and earlier rush hours these days largely caused by people dropping off kids to and from school. In my day we used to go to school by bus, have these now been stopped?

Re: Pet Hates on the road!

Now I'm far from an advanced driver but I'd like to think I drive as safety as possible. 2 things that drive me mad...

1. People dawdling when we are leaving the Cardiff city stadium by car....People do the most infuriating things which hold up others and in actual fact we would probably get out quicker if it wasn't for these people!

2. Culverhouse cross roundabout (the slip road approach as if you've come from leckwith). The THE RIGHT HAND lanE of the slip road coming upto the lights can be used to go straight on (to tesco and marks) or u you can keep going around the roundabout). The left hand lane goes LEFT only to go to pizzahut/pc world/Barry etc. People don't look at the White road markings and constantly carve me up!

Re: Pet Hates on the road!

Tue Dec 20, 2016 1:26 pm

People who overtake a queue of cars in the inner lane queuing for a junction, then try to sneak in to turn off theirselves at the last second! Correctly, nobody in the inner lane allows them to sneak in, so they then stop in the outside lane until someone finally does, causing a massive tail back in the outside lane as well! The Coryton turn off on the A470 is a nightmare for this!

I know exactly what you mean on the second item and it's bloody infuriating if not dangerous. A few weeks back near Ystrad Mynach I was driving behind a car in a lane with ONLY a left turn filter clearly road marked. Fortunately I know the area well. I moved into the outer lane, road marked as straight ahead ONLY wanting to go straight through the approaching roundabout. Obviously I thought the car which I had now started to overtake had the intention of turning left .....but no, he proceeded straight through the roundabout and I just about avoided colliding with him. No wonder accidents happen but I would say that knowing how inattentive many of us can be, especially in unfamiliar places, maybe the Highway Authority should rethink their strategy with creating exclusive lanes, even if it is intended to speed up the traffic flow.

Re: Pet Hates on the road!

Tue Dec 20, 2016 2:09 pm

Drivers who don't realise that the Highway Code allows cyclists to cycle 2 abreast because it's safer.

Drivers who swing to the right when turning left, and vice versa.

Drivers who don't leave enough room when over taking cyclists.

Taxi drivers who 'park' half in the space and half in the road.

Bus drivers who don't use the bus lane on North Road.

Inseficient lighting in certain weather conditions is a motoring offence as is having wrong lighting in good conditions ( rear fog lights) with no fog or rain

Most modern cars have auto lighting that is activated on ignition, eg volvo

What about when you park your car between the white lines and then find you cant get out because some ignorant c@@t has parked right on the edge of the white line! FFS take a bit of care when your parking! Its especially anoying when there is nowhere to park.

And dont even get me started on drivers that use two spaces when its busy! That drives me nuts!
