If so many lives had not been lost in the war, and Hitler's forces had prevailed, FIFA may only have Germany and Argentina as members now !

If millions of people hadn't died protecting the freedoms we cherish today, idiots like those running world football would not be in a position to fine countries whose brave men and women fought for our liberty.

FIFA is one of the most corrupt organisations in the world but they don't do anything about their own house.

“Fifa fully respects the significance of commemorating Remembrance Day on November 11 each year.
“The Laws of the Game are overseen by the International Football Association Board (composed of the four British FAs and Fifa) and (are) applicable to all 211 member associations. The relevant Law 4, para. 4, clearly states that the players equipment should not carry any political, religious or commercial messages.
“The Laws are applied uniformly in the event of similar requests by any member association to commemorate similar historic events.”
This is the same FIFA that agreed in 2011 that it was fine for the poppy emblem to be worn on armbands during international matches - but has taken a totally different view in 2016. Any appeal will hopefully force them to explain their view that the poppy is 'political' within the meaning of the laws, and why they have done a 180 degree turn from 5 years ago.

If the English, Spanish,Italian and German FA's left Fifa it would be fcuked. A world cup every 4 years without the rich TV companies would soon stifle Fifa. A bit like Brexit, just need to be strong

There should be the option to go to a completely independent body i.e.law courts to fight this. FIFA were wrong when they brought the ban in and they are still wrong now. The poppy does not glorify war, it is a symbol to remember those who have fallen who were fighting for freedom.
For such ludicrous fines to come from such a corrupt organisation is laughable. FIFA needs a gigantic kick in the teeth over this. I hope that all the countries involved fight them all the way on this.

You took the words from my mouth.
Exactly what I wanted to say.
Whatever is this world that we live in coming to?
The sooner that this organisation is abolished, the better.
