Warnock- "he’s a big plus for us!" " “He’ll get better!"

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock could cancel January striker search if Kenneth Zohore continues surprise form

Zohore has taken his chance to impress and now Bluebirds boss Warnock is tempted to ditch his plans to spend "decent" money on a new frontman in the transfer window

Kenneth Zohore has impressed since his half-time introduction in the midweek win over Wolves

Neil Warnock says he is looking to spend ‘decent money’ on a striker in January, but that he will be happy to use the funds to strengthen elsewhere if Kenneth Zohore continues to lead the line with aplomb.

Warnock turned to Zohore with his side trailing 1-0 to Wolves last Tuesday night and the Dane has responded with two excellent displays, earning his manager’s praise after the 4-3 defeat to Barnsley.

The 68-year-old says Zohore is exactly the profile of striker he has been scouring the market for.

He said: “[I want]Someone like Kenny Zohore that can go beyond, be strong, flick it on here and there, has got an eye for goal. I wish some of the chances had fallen to him.

“He’s come out of the blue really. If we hadn’t been so bad in the first half the other night, we probably would never have known about Kenneth.

“I’m lucky aren’t I? I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now.

“He’s been super. That’s two games now. He was treading water at the end but I didn’t want to take him off. Now he’s got a couple of days on his ice packs and stuff, he can start training again on Tuesday/Wednesday because he’s got to start lasting 90 minutes.

“He’s been a massive plus for us because I’m looking to spend decent money on a striker in January, and I can’t buy anybody better than him at the minute.

“He’ll get better when he gets fitter. He knows now that he can do that every week, and that’s what you need from a striker.

“He’s not the problem. I have to solve the other problems.

“If he continues like that, that’s one and a half games where he’s done really well, caused a lot of problems and we’ve created a lot of chances from him. I’m delighted with him.”

Warnock revealed that he has by in dialogue with Mehmet Dalman and Ken Choo over January spending, but that plans to splash out on a centre-forward are not set in stone.

Zohore has not scored in his two appearances but has come close on occasions, firing just over the bar with an acrobatic volley against Wolves, and drawing a stunning save from Barnsley keeper Adam Davies when he stooped to head in the first half.

Warnock says Zohore has been ‘lazy’ at times during his Cardiff career but believes that he can now forge a successful career in South Wales.

Warnock said: “I’ve talked to Mehmet and he’s talked to Vincent, and we know what we’re looking for.

“I won’t spend silly. If Kenneth can carry on like this, I’ll be delighted to have him on board, then we can spend the money elsewhere.

“I’ve still got to generate money as well. He’s what I’ve been looking for all along and he’s just come out of the woodwork.

“I can’t be more pleased with him. He’s been a little bit lazy since I’ve been at the club but, at half-time the other night, he showed what he could do.

“He’ll get fitter now so he’s a big plus for us. A few minuses I’ll have to deal with over the next nine days.”

In all fairness the last 2 games he has terrified the opposition centre backs but I would still like us to get another option in.

Kenneth Zohore to continue as our Striker in January?

Hmmmmmm??

We still need to sign a proven striker as Lambert is also not the answer.

We should save any money we were going to spend on a striker and strengthen our Goal Keeping and defensive options! No point scoring more if your shipping more than Amazon the other end! :ayatollah:

Lyn, The club messed up big time once again selling Marshall and will prob not get more than £2mill and in the long run it will cost us more.
Then brought in Amos on massive wages who conceded more goals than any other goalie in the Championship last season and Bolton fans could not wait to get rid.

We then spend big wages on Rickie Lambert and for me more wasted money.

I am a massive Warnock Fan and I think he will find working for our club the biggest test of his career

We need some creativety for ken to get into box instead of having to get scraps 30 odd yards out! Same goes for lambert, we are just not getting them close to goals to have a chance. :old:

the whole of the summer window was nothing short of a disaster .again
starting with the appointment of Trolls who was at least part of the problems with the Slade era,he didnt even bite their hands off when offered the job. what ever monies they saved they promptly had to cough up via paying off him and a bunch of backroom staff.
then to cut costs they dont renew KJs contract but replace him with an older RL on much the same cash?
let 2 keepers go and gambled on a quite expensive loanie
suppose we saved a few quid at left back but NW is not convinced with Bennett who i doubt was cheap {wages}. and we havent seen enough of Richards who was on 18k at Fulham.
then there are Huws and Immers {bigger investment here than i think most realise}. ive seen both play well but as far as Cardiff City are concerned about as much use as a soggy packet of woodbines.
we need NW to stay as long as possible and be patient when things are bad we need a bit of continuity.

Agreed totally Marshall is a massive loss and when you look at it like you've said what a cock up again by the club.
Warnock is a strong character and i have faith in him to sort things out but he'd be a lot happier with Marshall at the club than Lambert with his wages .
Hrs been a massive loss to city has Marshall.
Let's hope Warnock sorts it out because if he can't no one will

lets be honest, we need a striker, winger, creative midfielder, holding midfielder, leader,a couple of full backs a goalkeeper and a new announcer
Seriously though warnocks got a massive January coming up, just when zahore looks the part we defend like schoolboys. Then the defence will play well and we wont be able to score. He thought the Sheffield united job was tough

He's just blowing smoke up Zohores arse, Warnock has a great knack at doing that, getting average players to perform that bit better than before.

I think Warnock knows he needs a striker with proven Championship nouse but there's nothing wrong with what he's doing, keeping Zahores confidence up to tide us over.

That fuckwit of a half-time announcer 'interviewing' Cleverly was cringe-inducing - who gives them a job? At least they've got rid of that dim bint who spent half-time shrieking shite into the microphone & frightening local cats. Bah. Humbug.

I agree that Z has been good, but there is 1 problem with our strike force.... There all ment to play with someone else, none are a lead striker.

Imagine if we had someone who plays on the shoulder of the defence, always looking to break away? E.G Earnie/Cambell

No ifs or buts Warnock has to sign a goalscoring forward, not to do so would be a disaster

Keeper and striker the priorities. Not sure why we're after the Hearts right-back!

I have never seen Healey play live except 20 mins (against Chelsea i think), but he looks an energy kid, running everywhere just what Lambert or Zohore need.

I believe Warnock has experimented with the Gunnar & Whitts combo to have a look how he gets those two and another forward on the pitch. Pilks on one wing Holiett on the other is quite solid. Although, i believe a bid for Pilks would see him leave.

Got to agree. One good all round 45 minute performance doesn't make a goal scoring striker.

Sounds more like a cash flow problem than any sudden discovery of a hidden gem.
