' NEIL WARNOCK NOT HAPPY & VOWS TO CHANGE '

Sat Dec 17, 2016 6:36 pm

The Cardiff City boss wasn't happy with his side's defending in the 4-3 defeat to Barnsley

Warnock was not happy with his sides defending and has had enough.

Saturday 17th December 2016

Neil Warnock has said he has had enough of defensive errors and vowed to make changes for the Boxing Day clash with Brentford.

Cardiff shipped four goals to Barnsley as they were repeatedly caught out on the counter, a result of players ignoring instructions, according to Warnock.

He was also critical of his side's finishing as they spurned a number of golden opportunities to get something out of the game.

Warnock said: “It was exciting for the neutral, wasn't it? How not to defend!

“I was pleased with the way they came back but I'm disappointed with every goal, our own fault, elementary errors. I've persevered for a few weeks now but I've got to make changes now, I've had enough.

“When I look at the goals I have to be critical.

“We were caught twice, because people who were told where they should be stood, an elementary thing, decided to do what they wanted to do. So we were caught on two goals by two lads who decided to do their own thing. It shouldn't happen it's disappointing. There were other errors along the way, I don't want to name individuals other than to say that I'll change it for the next game and January can't come soon enough.

“I thought we played some good stuff, we should have won it. We made them look like Real Madrid for 15 minutes in the first half. Overall we had some cracking chances, their keeper should be man of the match.

“There were some plusses today, at 2-1 it was a certain handball.

“If they'd had our chances they'd have beaten us by nine. Our chances, dear me, they take some missing, I'm really disappointed. They weren't 50-50, they were just tap ins.”

Hard to disagree with anything he says.

Let's hope he can change it positively given some of the chumps he's inherited.

Time to start throwing some cutlery Neil.

Strong words. It will be interesting to see who gets dropped I.e who the two players he mentioned were. I've got a feeling one might be Morrison! Bamba and Manga in the middle please.

Exactly. A lot of people are calling for Amos' head but I'm not one of them. The defence left him with no chance for 2 of those goals. Maybe we miss Bamba more than we think.

Warnock can say what he wants, he's the one who changed the defence around and dropped Bennett today so he has made changes which havnt worked.

He picked the team and ultimately the buck stops with him, he needs to accept he is also to blame.

Morrison and Connolly are my guesses.

I was going for Amos but he definitely stood where he was mean't to be.

Interesting- wondering who it would be, but we all know that if the opposition leaves 2 up, you leave 3 back.

I think Connolly might be one he's talking about.
Not sure on the other, Noone maybe ?

Won't be Morrison as his instruction would be 'get in the box'

What about the other two chances, and the goal last week? Hes not good enough, simple as. We need a GK a winger and a striker in Jan minimum.

He was not in the right place for the 3rd goal or the 4th silly mistakes by a keeper and Connelly has to be dropped, Morrison is not great but better than what we have while Bamba is out . I agree Warnock shouldn't have dropped Bennett .

Time for Wilson to have a go in goals he will get better and better however all keepers make mistakes however Amos has done to many

Amos light years better than what Wilson was when he played.
Don't think the goals were his fault today, maybe the 3rd he over committed, but the other 3 were just shite defending

Unusually, I sat at in the top corner of the Ninian Stand today with a friend I hadn't seen for a while and Amos was certainly at fault for two of the goals, including the first (slow to react) and third (poor decision making) and we need an experienced keeper in soon to help build confidence for our continuing faltering defence

However, bigger issues today were the performances of Matthew Connolly at full back (very poor and out of his comfort zone) and Craig Noone out wide (industrious but ultimately ineffective)

Morrison didn't have his best game but he scored a goal (might have had a couple) and battled hard alongside Manga, whilst the Barnsley players freely ran past other players out wide

We nearly pulled it back and at one point were on for an unlikely win but ultimately not a good day at the office

Neil Warnock will know that more than most and the best thing about having him as our manager is that he won't be backward in telling the players what he thinks and he will already be planning ahead; whether it be in team changes for the next game or in squad changes in the Transfer Window :ayatollah:

The Squad needs so much work Warnock will have to just put out fires in Jan. We've got a CB captain whos biggest strength is attacking corners but isn't great at defending and isn't the best vocally on the pitch. Connolly just doesn't have the legs for full back. I would either have him with Bamba with Gunner Captain or he's a bench player incase a CB gets injured. Peltier not good enough. Noone not consistent. We've got a number 2 in goals and a number 2 who shouldn't be close to the first team. I would say Zahore has some promise but would only be used as an impact player in any other championship team. Lambert's past it so technically we haven't got one front line striker.

Saying all this one thing we do have is character and a top championship manager. I think we will be alright but it's going to take at least 2 transfer windows to sort this mess out. If Warnock didn't now how big of a job he had he definitely does now!!!

Trouble is we are too used to Marshall keeping us in the game and most goalies we have are gonna struggle in comparison to his legacy but I think this lad is worth persevering with.

That's mostly my view of the game I simply cannot believe some are saying Amos carries no blame for any of the goals

I would add Peltier to the list who is so limited it is hard to believe how he gets selected. We are told he is a great defender well he wasn't today as he was beaten time and again and was hopeless with his left foot and his contribution to attack was almost non-existent. LB is Bennett's position and that carthorse (Peltier) is well overdue being removed from the side.

Not many defensive players covered themselves in glory yesterday but Morrison was probably the worst of the lot !

His positioning for the first goal was awful. They had one player waiting for the cross yet Morrison let him get a free header in.

He followed that up by constantly allowing himself to be run at time and again. Yesterday showed that without Bamba he is exposed. I would be very surprised if he's in the side on Boxing Day.

Bennett worries me slightly in that he loses concentration but if he was there yesterday his pace would have bee able to stop the two/three breakaway goals.

Back four for Brentford LB Bennett RB Peltier (he can't play on the left !!) CB Bamba (Connolly if suspended) CB Manga.
